There is so much more to the music in Thundercats than the main theme and some throwaway rock cover. Everything from the individual character themes to the musical cues for every situation are complete genius. The music sets the tone for the entire show perfectly.

After going back and watching all the iconic 80's cartoons as a grownup, the Thundercats has stood it's ground the best of all. The music is certainly a major component to it's longevity. The intro sets the bar for the entire series.

The originals need to be released. Even if in limited quantities. This music is incredible and is possibly the greatest original music put to a cartoon ever. In the same vein as merry melodies, this music made such an impression on me as a kid, and it would be a shame if its not honored with a physical release for posterities sake.

I have emailed La La Land Records in regards and they know about the huge demand for it! The problem is getting the license granted which has been the hold up!

I remember watching this on the DVD set and being just mind-blown by Bernard Hoffer... then the second part... why is that even there? You just DONT do that to a master like that! The fact that this property hasn't gotten a video game is absolutely absurd to me! I'm not so disappointed about a movie seeing as Warner Bros. owns the rights to ThunderCats and we see how their live-action adaptations have fared recently. Please just make an awesome game sometime this century.

@@Subypowa yes, there was. There was a Nintendo 3DS game made to go along with the 2011 game. And there were about 5 video games made to go with the original series. Unfortunately, every single Thundercats game is absolutely terrible and doesn't really capture the coolness and magic of the franchise. Maybe if they made a team up brawler much like the 1990 Konami X-Men arcade?

So according to this short video documentary about the intro and songs.....it was Jules Bass who wrote the lyrics for the intro.. .and It was Bernard Hoffer who created the melody of the intro.....and they both spoken to ...Craig Schneider an a electric guitar enthusiast.. about it......Did Craig had his own music studio and performance crew to perform there Thundercats main intro???....so is that Craig's guitar playing in the main intro that we are hearing????.... who was the one that actually sing the lyrics intro for the show???? does Craig Schneider know?...where is this Craig Schneider now? hmm...

Next time a studio decides to revive the Thundercats TV show yet again (or better yet, as a feature film), I vote the Rembrandts' version of the theme song should be used to open it! Their rendition kicks entire galactic quadrants of ass. Bernie Hoffer has every right to be proud of his compositions having influenced so many other, younger artists over generations.

the rembrandts took over the video, wth. it's supposed to be about the original music. wanted to learn more about the original musicians putting the music together. the guitarist, vocalists, etc who also did silverhawks. that ended weird.

Rankin-bass is not special for giving their shows original scores, nor are they special for hiring an orchestra to perform them. Library music was not common in American cartoon that the time, and plenty of Studios hired orchestras to perform their shows original scores. Thundercats doesn't even use a full Orchestra, there is no string section anywhere in the score.
