So as a nearly blind individual for nearly my entire life, sound is about 80% of my connection with the world. I live in the region where thunderstorms are rare, and in the season when they were most common when I was lucky enough to be in the direct path of one, I sat out in the middle of it in my yard, and experienced every damn minute of it. I look at thunderstorms, the same not many other people look at skydiving or roller coasters, a tremendous thrill. I don't know how this recording was brought into existence. And while the sound is considerably better than most of the cassettes and compact discs of storms did I used to listen to as a kid, this still doesn't feel entirely genuine and authentic. It's almost as though someone deliberately edited many of the thunder sounds so as to mute or minimize the very most intense cracks, crashes, and Booms that you would experience if you were standing out in the middle of a storm. In some of them, it feels like the Thunder is occurring behind you, so you are watching through the front door, and the Thunder is the current behind you in back of the house. I never even knew this was here until I accidentally stumbled across this. But I'm definitely saving it to listen to later.

My wife asked me "why I like rain & thunderstorms"so much, well the smell of cool fresh air, the rain falling on roofs, glass and trees windows etc evoking a deep senses of relaxation, calmness & tranquility causing my mind/thoughts to slow down as if every rain drop was there for me driving out the constant need to always be busy with so many redundant, miniscule thankless tasks where even at one point giving me goosbumps leaving me in a melancholy mood, almost like in slight trance.....pure bliss!!!

There are many reasons and ways to use these types of sounds. For some it helps them fall asleep, for some it helps them relax, or for others it helps them overcome anxiety and insomnia. Or to drown out annoying other noises ;).

There is a fictional but very interesting story related to thunder and lightning, this story helped me to no longer be afraid of thunder and lightning. Once, during a big storm, a scientist who was studying lightning stood near a large tree to observe. Suddenly, a lightning bolt struck the tree and burned it. Although it was very dangerous, surprisingly, after the storm, the tree grew a rare mushroom that had never been discovered in that area before. The scientist discovered that it was the impact of lightning that created the conditions for the growth of this mushroom😗🍄
