Hey gang, this is 2022 and we're dying, we have much, but nothing compared to what you had- I'm four side Irish, American, we grew up in The Rockaway's, NY, Irish Riviera. Music, during the summer, was our anti-depressants. This video still has that effect, Pax-

When people never achieved something in live, they start taking pride in things like man made borders.

@@Klibasto The Irish heritage runs deeper in Canada then most of populated Ireland now. Visit Newfoundland and tell me different. I went to countryside Ireland, and I was surprised by the heritage lost. The Irish have always been considered a race, and when my ancestors came here they were treated like dirt. One side of my family came as indentured slaves the other later keeping their surname, but poorer than dirt. We're talking no shoes, no windows, walking uphill both ways to school. That side fought in WW2, and my grandfather was a pilot. His stories would ground any living soul. Back then signs would read in front of shops, "coloured and irish need not apply" for jobs. Yes, things have changed, but do you mock African descendants wanting to be closer to their heritage? The English did steal many peoples heritages away through indentured slavery/straight slavery. But I still wear the same necklace my great great great great grandfather wore when he came here. Don't you dare take away my heritage, my race and my pride. A shillelagh to the boot 'll teach ya. It's not about "achievement" but rather a pride of my ancestors overcoming. I'm doing well, but my heritage is not a personal achievement, it's a thousand year story of becoming, war and not giving up. Don't be so suckered in to globalization for globalization's sake. You can have your ancestral pride and still achieve. Many communities here only succeed because of their ancestral pride. Just because the Irish are white, doesn't mean they were always treated as so. The Africans and Irish often worked together, as slaves, and to this day in the east coast, it continues. My ancestors were indentured slaves with the Africans, and to this day, we still work together and respect each others cultures. At least I know many generations of stories of my ancestors, what do you know of yours?

@@halfdoorclub7520 I was never into soap operas of any kind but in between the Riordans in the '70s and Glenroe in the '80s was Bracken with Niall Tobin and a young Gabriel Byrne. Very edgy, very different. Was repeated on TG4 in the '90s or naughties.

There's an Irish dance tune called The Blackbird and that's where the Glenroe theme came from it was rearranged slightly by a member of Horslips.

Splendid effort. My Granny emigrated from Thurles to America circa 1920. To see a bit of Liberty Square as it was in 1965 is wonderful. I know that area well having visited numerous times over the years. I wonder if where the Guinness is good for you sign is where The Arch Bar stands today. The chemist is still there in the same location and Mocklers pub was where the J. Hogan pub is in the video if memory serves. I'm going back to 1975 on that one. Perhaps some Thurles folk can clarify.
