My questions are sort of unrelated to the current lesson, but they came to me as I studied this lesson: Question 1: What do you make of Genesis 11:31? Abram's father, Terah, was already en route to Cannan but, for some reason, never made it. Why do you think Abram's father was headed out to Cannan? Do you think it is just a coincidence, or is there something to it? I think that perhaps God first called Terah to be the "father of our faith', but after the death of Haran, Terah became slothful and distracted, such that he never completed the mission that God had assigned to him, so after Terah died, God passed the assignment on to Abram? Question 2: What about Genesis 12:10- 20, when Abram was in Egypt? Abram essentially prostituted Sarai out to the Pharoh to protect himself. Although Sarai went along with Abrams' misrepresentation, Abram was dead wrong for even suggesting that his wife do this. Abram's actions were a faithless, selfish, and dishonest act. Still, he is the "father of our faith." How do you reconcile this?

Greetings! As regards your first question, I have no knowledge or information to speak to that. As regards your second question, Sarah was his wife, and apparently his half sister as well, but you are absolutely right that his actions were not ones of faith, but under the circumstances seeking to preserve his life. This does not mean he is not the father of faith because even with our weaknesses and failures-if we stay with God, He brings us to a place of maturity and strength and power so that we can leave a legacy that blesses others. Thank God our end is not the same as the way we begin! God is making and molding us all-if we let Him. God bless you! REQUEST-Will You Tell 2 People this week about “Thursday School?” That would mean so much!
