My lord, did I truly live to see a member of Sonic Youth and the frontman of Primal Scream collab on a cover of Heroin by The Velvet Underground? Be still my music geek heart!

The most iconic of all VU-Songs, i love, hate and fear the depth of this trip at the same time. Lou's laugh alone after "it's my wife and it's my life" always get's me. So sad and beautiful.

What if drugs are better than life? Because this is what Heroin talks about; drugs only as a way to escape from a reality too harsh to bear

@@DouglasP_ Try to find something which is even better than heroin. For example: art, faith, love...
@mercurialmagictrees Жыл бұрын
@@DouglasP_ drugs are meant to numb pain or cope with mental distress. However the main issue is that the pain and distress will always come back and the drugs will be less effective at lowering pain or providing comfort. It's a vicious cycle. I am sure you're of it. I don't mean to discredit your perspective because it is valid especially in regards to the message of the song. The great thing about life is that it provides many ways to heal. Drugs should be short term way to heal; otherwise they create more misery.

Question for all the Lou buffs out there (especially Thurston!). In the PBS American Masters Rock 'n Roll Heart docu there is a piece of music used in the background three times. Its Lou and what I originally thought was Cale, like some VU bootleg. Years later I heard Mr.Reed's vox in the mix, later day though, so I'm under the assumption it's a live recording of Lou & Laurie. Its really simple, drone-y, tremolo and its fckin' beautiful. You can faintly hear Lou sing/say "...my own sense of...". (its not from time rocker btw). Thurston is actually in the docu. Check it out @ 1.05.58. PLEASE HELP. This question has haunted me for years. Thank You x

Gay? What's gay about it? It's breathy and desperate, if you don't like it, you don't like Thurston and Bobby's version, which is totally chill, but doesn't make it "gay" by any metric. It's still a haunting song
