Unpopular opinion: this is probably her best song. Better than My Heart Will Go On. It has Meatloaf I Would Do Anything For Love vibes with a hell of a vocal performance! 👏🙌

This song came out about 6 months before the end of a 4 1/2 year on and off relationship with the love of my life, up until that time. It powerfully described our relationship. Then, during an off time with her, I fell in love with someone else, and married her. Now, 25 years later I’m divorced…..and so is my old girlfriend. We ran into each other in a parking lot the other day. We’re getting together to catch up on the intervening years. She has lived more than half of her life since then; a little less than half for me. I had totally forgotten about this song. Then I heard it the other day and all of the old feelings came rushing back after being suppressed for 2 1/2 decades!
@hanakhattab79442 жыл бұрын
So what happened next? If you don't mind sharing it's a touching story
@keppscrossing2 жыл бұрын
@@hanakhattab7944 Real life interfered for almost two months; she's working full time and back in college full time so didn't have a lot of free time. Then she got called in to cover at work for someone a few hours before our first lunch date so we missed it, then I was out of town, then I had a medical procedure on the day she was free, then she got sick. But we had our first date in 26 years a few days ago. It went really well! WOW! I found her more attractive at almost 50 than at 23. Physically she looked great, but the best thing was the confidence she now has! There are advantages of youth, but to see the person she has grown to become, was so much better! There was no way to catch up on all the years in just one go, but it was a good start. She's pretty swamped preparing for finals week next week, so we aren't going to get together again until after they're done. But we're both looking forward to it. We are not an "item" again at this point, after just one date, but are definitely great friends who are interested in seeing what possibilities there may be. It's been great finding old photos, listening to songs such as this one and "The Song Remembers When" by Trisha Yearwood, both of which have always exclusively reminded me of her, and reminiscing the last couple of months on those many memories I had so long banished. I think this re-budding friendship will likely be the best gift of this Christmas season and am already thankful for the mysterious ways that God works! The love for her that was dead long ago, that I successfully suppressed for the nearly two decades that I was married and until running into her in the parking lot two months ago, has definitely started to all come back to me now. All indications are that it will continue.

Something about the tempo and flow of the song really reminds me of Meat Loaf's "I Would Do Anything For Love"; the background music, even the power behind her voice just keeps bringing me back to that song. That song means a lot to me; so anything that conjures similar feelings in me warrants high praise.

That's because both songs were written/produced by the same composer: Jim Steinman. I was amused to learn that there was actually a courtroom battle between Meatloaf and Steinman over who would get to record this song (Steinman insisted the song was meant for a female vocalist and wanted Celine, Meatloaf wanted it for himself 🤣)

I always love Celine Dion's music and her voice is more than just great... She was one of the best singers of all time and her legacy remains. Rest in perfect peace till we meet again Dion. You were a wonderful woman.

What I would give to belt like she does.. Maybe one day. That's why I'm working on my belting right now still. Voice lessons in college really helped me belt higher than I could before. Fingers crossed!

I feel like this song is much deeper and darker, yet lighter, in a poetic kind of way. Celine is so brilliant in her way of artistry
