THX - Life (a 40 Year anniversary montage)

After 40 years, The Audience is Still Listening to the deep note.
To celebrate THX’s 40th anniversary today, I have prepared a very special tribute to them with an edited montage of ALL of their official theatrical* trailers from 1983 until 2023!
*Tex vs The Robot, Truth, Spheres, Ziegfeld & T2 is also included, despite them not being theatrically released in the USA.

I think it's safe to say that THX is for most people born from 1983-2003 (without them knowing) their introduction to hifi audio and hifi theater systems. THX is the goat.

For the past 35 years, motion picture loudspeaker systems have not changed… Lucasfilm Ltd. and this theatre are pleased to introduce a new motion picture sound system. In 1983, we were all praised with a little something known as “THX”. And along with that, the very famous “Deep Note” was born. As time went on, THX certified many different things, including movie theatres, home entertainment, and even cars! And the Deep Note was growing in popularity, with its composer evolving, too. Overall, even after 40 years… The Audience is REALLY Listening. THX 40th Anniversary 40 years, and the Deep Note’s still livin’ sharp.

I would love to see something like that in theaters. I have never once encountered a THX trailer in a movie theater so if I ever come across a theater that plays em’, I’ll definitely try and get them to play this. Well, an abridged version at least, because it’s too long to be an actual THX trailer.

Your not alone. I somewhat used to run away from my room (that had a CRT that I no longer own) when Tex came on the Cars DVD. Now that’s no longer the case, as I’ve matured and have now appreciated these THX trailers, especially Tex 1, since then.

What can you predict for the concept of a new Tex trailer?

I personally don’t know what kind of new Tex trailer THX could probably make. I did have an idea about a “power outage” trailer where Tex fixes the power to the THX logo, but that concept has been languishing for at least a while now, and I’ve only storyboarded it.

I wish I mixed it in 7.1 sound, but it didn’t happen for two reasons: the edit was made before any thoughts of a surround sound mix were conceived, and the fact that KZbin is currently only able to handle 5.1 sound, which I had been testing at the time of posting, so the mix would’ve been messy, as proven by my custom Tex 2 mix.
