Discover how Ellen Browne, a math teacher from Pomfret, Connecticut, uses the TI-Innovator™ Rover to help students master right triangle trigonometry.
Are your students struggling to understand the differences between opposite and adjacent sides or when to use sine versus cosine? Ellen’s creative activity, designed for right triangle trigonometry lessons, gets students out of their seats and fully engaged with the math!
Students start off by drawing unique triangles (no equal sides allowed!) and calculating the hypotenuse and angles using sine and cosine. Then, they bring math to life by programming the Rover to draw their triangles, combining coding and math with hands-on learning.
As Ellen explains, one of the best ways to learn math is talking about math. With Rover, students work in pairs, discuss their math strategies, and have fun learning.
When the wheels are turning, students are learning!
