Yes. I think Phun's father is very sensitive to scandal because of past experience and his position in the government. There is a back story that the series doesn't explain clearly, only hints at. He was portrayed very differently in the original series, and Noh was much more at Phun's house after school and sleeping over. Noh had a good relationship with Phun's family in that series.

I am surprised by Phun's father in this version of the story. In the original series, Phun's father was very wise and quiet. There is always so much in the background to explain the characters' motivations, and I confess I've never quite grasped it all. But, I don't like the father's portrayal in this series. Phun is also weaker in this series. In the old one, Phun was always the forward one, taking charge all the time and very possessive of Noh. Even then, Noh, though, was stronger in his love of Phun, much clearer even though always more reserved and insecure. I always thought it was a bit ironic as Noh's household has queer people. I think Phun's family's position in society allows him to feel less vulnerable than Noh does about expressing their feelings. Aim's story is largely over, but what a big difference from in the first series. This series sanitizes it but gives it a twist by making her a lesbian. I don't know how Yuri doesn't know about that, but the boys are being very careful to protect Aim. The only other difference that disappoints me is the character Earn. In the original series, he was a much more assertive character, and the series seemed to give more episodes about his love for Noh, including the field trip where Phun inserts himself forcefully between Earn and Noh to make it clear to Earn that Noh "belonged" to Phun. I'm sorry for this long analysis, but I've held back until now, and it's all just spilling out. I think Noh is the most interesting character in the series and most resembles the one in the first series. BTW, if this is based on a book, I haven't read it.
