I actually really prefer it being a half-pyramid. It makes it perfect for a bookshelf-type display, which is where I would want this to be displayed. I do agree that the "buy two sets" gimmick seems like a throw-away feature. Unless the set includes alternate instructions allowing for the other side to be visually different. Then it would be ok.
@luisdireito

I agree. And if you put a mirror behind the set on a bookshelf, you get a full pyramid! A really simple and cheap trick to give the illusion of the full monument without having to buy two sets.

I'm blown away by this set. I'm so glad they chose to design it around the time period it was first built, otherwise we'd just get a plain tan pyramid. I also don't mind getting only half a pyramid if it meant we were able to get all the details for the city and the river, and I'm glad the option is there to combine two. The option to display the pyramid under construction is also probably my favorite part.

I like that too. the model is great. However the explanation of the pyramid is typical mainstream narrative. The truth of the matter is that no one knows what they were used for; it's highly unlikely they were tombs though. No mummy ever has been found in one and if you compare the different pyramids (and especially the. complex beneath the pyramids) it's more likely it had a practical use. My best guess is either a food storage place/place of fermenting product or a factory of sorts to produce a product that was very valuable in it's time. This is supported by the granite boxes (they appear to be very different from an actual sarcophagus; just take a look at the one in Djoser, you gonna tell me that's a sarcophagus? I don't think so) in the pyramids of which each pyramid had 1 to max 2, of which even the sealed ones appeared to contain nothing except for some black gue that coated the walls of the granite boxes. It's also known how the were build btw, A French archeologist revealed an internal spiraling ramp to the top of the pyramids with more space at the e corners, probably to turn the blocks.

@@stijnvdv2 What are you on about. I'm studying archaeology and ancient history and I've written an essay about the evolution from early mud mastaba tombs to pyramids. The Pyramid of Djoser, which is the first Egyptian pyramid, shows very clearly how it was originally a mastab tomb with a step pyramid built on top. On top of this there are very often many mastaba tombs built around pyramids. It isn't difficult to deduce what they were for. Most pyramids also have the typical Egyptian tomb layout and make no sense as a work place. They may have been used to store food, though I haven't heard anything about that and it is just speculation. I find that likely only in times of strife since usually temples would be used for storage. I also have no idea what you are talking about when you imply stone sarcophogi are somehow not sarcophogi. You do know many pyramids literally have funerary inscriptions on the walls of the tomb? How is that not glaring evidence about the purpose of pyramids? Also you're being anachronistic when you talk about how a sarcophagus should look like, you have the idea of a new kingdom tomb in mind and if a tomb 1000 years before that looks different it isn't because rituals change over such long periods of time, its because it must be a different thing altogether. I highly recommend you read more on the subject before you spread more misinformation.

4:08 Well we kinda have figured out how the pyramids where build. the base was made out of natural rock, carved and brought over to make the foundation. The other bricks however are made out of an ancient type of concrete, hence explaining why the blocks are perfectly level and you can not even get a piece of paper between the blocks. The person who discovered this proceeded to collect the ingredients, make the recipe and had it analyzed between an actual piece of the pyramide. The results show it matched, and the 2 samples where indistinguishable from each other. However, because this would mean that the eqyptians didn't magically cut rocks with more precision than modern day machinery, it would lead to the mystery and magic being lost. Hence the people who have made a whole career out of researching the pyramids, reject the concrete theory and all it's proof, because it would cost them their jobs.

And with a few simple upgrades, you can turn it into the superior landmark The Bass Pro Shop pyramid

I really wish they would've scaled down the pyramid to include all 3 in a line and added a Sphinx. Skip over the small village, trees, and water elements.

I'd be in de-Nile if I said this set wasn't awesome. When I heard the rumour of pyramid, I thought "well that sounds lame." But seeing it now, it's anything but pyra-medicore (sorry). The surroundings make it for me, that village especially looks so cool. The actual pyramid looks so clean as well, and the fact that you can lift the top off to see the people constructing it is the sort of genius I've come to expect from Lego. This is the first non-British architecture set I've considered getting. Fantastic review, Tiago my dude 👍

Put the set against a mirror so that you could have a full pyramid without needing more space to display it (and also not having to buy a second kit) 😉

Wasn't it agreed upon that it seemed like the pyramids weren't actually used as tombs, since most burials have been found in the valley of kings, and there have only really been like a small amount of pyramids with mummified bodies inside them
