It amazes me at how Catherine can make small talk so easily. At least she makes it look easy!

Especially because she came across as reserved and quite shy. I’ve heard that William and HMTQ helped her ‘come out of herself’. That’s where they sound encouraging that Sophie and Catherine became great friends because of the protocol lessons.
@BunnyMomx8
@BunnyMomx8 Жыл бұрын
They actually rehearse the small talk. They look into what a person is interested in and learn a little bit about it. It started with HMTLQ who was then Princess Elizabeth. She was distressed about what to say to her dinner partner. So royal aides came up with this solution. So she may have checked a few bits of history to talk about. I’ve read that her ladies in waiting write down the names of key people Catherine meets to help her remember them. Isn’t that fascinating???

Catherine is always so sweet, polite, down to earth! She seems to put everyone @ ease! Truly cares about others! Couldn’t have found a better future Queen than if she was hand picked by Queen Elizabeth herself!! Prince William hit the jack pot when he met Catherine! Beautiful woman all the way around!!

I've been reading a lot about Queen Mary, what an amazing woman. Perhaps the royals would not exist as they are today if it wasn't for her efforts. Plus she brought in all that amazing jewellery , gotta love her for that alone

She could be voracious when it came to collecting jewelry. She was reported to be envious of the Russian royals because they had a more impressive Faberge and jewelry collection/ Suring the revolution, George V wanted to bring the family to safety in England but was advised against it for gear tha revolution could spread so they left the Romanovs to die in Russia. When the news came to the palace, Mary's first words were not for the dead family, but for their jewelry collection. She wanted it, wanted to know where it was so she could get her hands on it. As pieces were coming out of Ruddia she was doing her best to buy them.

A lot of refugees from Russia , after the Revolution, had to sell their jewels to survive. The Dowager Empress of Russia, who’s son was the last Tzar, was the sister of Queen Alexandra, who was Queen Mary’s mother-in-law. Both the former Tsarina and The former Queen lived together in England after the revolution. A Royal Naval ship was sent to the Crimea to evacuate the Tzar’s mother and many more of the Russian Royals and aristocracy. The political situation was very volatile towards the end of the First World War and the rise in Communism was threatening to sweep across Europe, this threat to Britain prevented the Tzar and his family being welcomed as refugees.

I agree. I’ve read a couple of biographies of her and I think Queen Mary is very overlooked. So much is made of her collecting jewellery and works of art but not so much on how along with her husband King George V, Mary is responsible for creating the modern Royal Family.

I agree. It is stunning in all the incarnations I have seen so far. My favorite is, of course, the full-blown one. The one that gives it its name. The Stuart Diamond is magnificent. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that stones that large are usually reserved for crowns. But in that tiara, it just looks like its best incarnation. 😊

Queen Maxima is one of my favorite royals. Her fashion can be hit or miss, but its always bright and bold and she looks amazing for a woman in her 50s. And yes, she brings the bling and I love her for it! For Princess Catharina-Amalia, I think the camera angle was important, from the side view when you can see her hair pulled up the tiara really suited her, but from straight on it looked awkward. Side note: How cute was King Willem-Alexander looking on like such a proud dad?! Very touching.

Oh wow they are all amazing. the tiaras of the bride and her mother-in-law were so beautiful. I love the way Queen Maxima uses the Royal family´s jewels. However (although being British I am probably a tad biased), Princess Catherine looks like she was born to wear a tiara. This just my opinion but I think she wears it better than Diana maybe it the colour of her hair. I loved seeing Princess Beatrice in that tiara, without being mean her mother just never looked right in tiaras (again just my personal opinion). I would just like to add, how beautiful and incredible Princess Anne looked on her wedding day, just wow!!!!

Hi Brittany! Good work! You mentioned the love story of Swedish Prince Bertil and Princess Lillian and you have talked about it on some previous occasion and seem a little unsure why they didn't get married at a young age. I'm Swedish so I can explain: Prince Bertil's father (and our current king's grandfather) King Gustav VI Adolf was very traditional so he didn't allow any royals (including his children and grandchildren) to marry commoners. Not even nobility was enough. If they did not marry princes and princesses, they would lose their royal titles and their place in the line of succession. His eldest son Gustav Adolf, who would become crown prince and father of our current king, he behaved and married a real princess. And the king's daughter Ingrid married the Danish crown prince (and became the mother of the current Danish queen). But two of his other three sons married commoners and lost their titles and right to the crown. Then the terrible thing happened that the eldest son and future crown prince Gustav Adolf died in a plane crash when his only son (our current king) was only nine months old. King Gustav VI Adolf was then 64 years old. If he were to die before the grandson Carl Gustav came of age, there was only one prince left who could take the job and that was Prince Bertil (the others had lost their right to the crown when they married). It is unclear (at least to me) whether it was the king who asked his son Bertil or whether it was Bertil himself who promised his father not to marry (Lilian who was a commoner) until (our current king) Carl Gustav had grown up. Because if Bertil had married Lilian then his father (who was consistent) would have taken away his titles and right to the crown. By renouncing marriage, Prince Bertil could thus guarantee that the house of Bernadotte remained on the throne. When Carl Gustav became King Carl XVI Gustav exactly 50 years ago (anniversary in September), one of the first decisions he made was that the royals would be allowed to marry for love - even with commoners - without losing their titles for the sake of it or right to the crown. In this way, both he and his uncle were able to marry in 1976 the ones they loved. The sad thing for Princess Lilian and Prince Bertil was that they could not have any children, but as Carl XVI Gustav's parents were both dead when Victoria, Carl Philip and Madeleine were born, they became very close, as grandmother and grandfather to them. Prince Bertil's second name was Oscar, which is Victoria's son's name now. And Madeleine's eldest daughter and Carl Philip's eldest son have the names Lilian and Bertil as second names. Prince Carl Philip was Prince Bertil's godson and inherited both his interest in fast cars and his and Princess Lilian's house, Villa Solbacken, on Djurgården (on of the islands in Stockholm). It is there that he, Princess Sofia and their three little princes live now. The youngest of them, Prince Julian, is the new Duke of Halland. It was the ducal title that Prince Bertil had.

Thankyou very much for this "report" about the Tiaras! ❤❤❤ Especially concerning Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. (Since I'm Swedish). You probably know this but the Norwegian, Danish and Swedish Royal Houses are related to the British Royal House. Our Crown Princess Victoria is a g-g-g- grandchild to the British Queen Victoria but also a g-g- niece to the late Prince Philip. Politically a lot of things has happened since Harry moved away and refused to renounce his titles. Queen Margarethe of Denmark ditched some Prince titles (different reasons but it's not a coincidance when King Charles needed support).In Sweden we've had Princess Madeleine living in US working part time as a Royal. (There was private reasons for that) but anyhow, she has been called home and will be living in Sweden with her kids in Swedish schools. Do you see? the families are rallying up for support! This is typically Royal. Don't talk to the press, never complain, never explain, support eachother behind the scenes. ❤ to you from 🇸🇪

Great wrap-up, Brittany. But a couple of corrections: Princess Lillian actually broke up her jewelry collection between Silvia, Victoria, and Madeleine. Lillian had some beautiful aquamarine pieces that Madeleine has worn over the last few years, and Silvia has worn a couple of her brooches. I do believe Victoria received most of the collection, however. As for Princess Iman's tiara, originally some believed it to be Princess Muna's Chaumet tiara, but it isn't. It's actually a new piece commissioned by the king and queen, Iman's parents, and given to her as a wedding present. The tiara has a modified fringe design with a row of navette-cut diamonds underneath a row of pear-cut diamonds and Arabic script on each end. It's believed to read, "My Faith in Allah," which is very sweet since "Iman" means "faith" in Arabic. So this is a third tiara by FRED that features Arabic script in the family.

Could you explain how the family orders, awards, and sashes are attached to the gowns without damaging the delicate fabrics? It seems that brooches (pins) would damage them.

I read somewhere that a magnet system is used when the fabric is too delicate.

I think Camilla could make QEs awful aquamarine tiara look beautiful, if anyone could. With her light hair, maybe a mermaid colored theme, she could rock it. I'd love to see that one done beautifully.

The Ruby Peacock tiara has a mirrored necklace and belongs to Princess Irene of the Netherlands, aunt of the King. It is the only tiara that is not a part of the Orange Nassau jewelry foundation founded by Queen Juliana. So it is on loan.

I do disagree with you, Brittany as to the Peacock Ruby tiara. I think it looks lovely on the Crown Princess. But then I also agree. I believe that if she had worn her hair on top of her head with the tiara nestled in front it would have looked much better on her. I don't really like that dress. Not necessarily on her but not on anyone. That neckline under the sheer fabric is just ugly. The color suits the Crown Princess however and really makes the rubies look their best.

I think it also depends upon from which angle the tiara is photographed. There were 2 photos with her together with Queen Maxima where she is photographed from the side and showcase her upswept hairdo that look much better than her looking straight into the camera.

If you don't comment about it, I'm going to explain then: Sophia of Spain wear a tiara first time since nine years of not do it, and she chose one very personal: the Nyarchos tiara, a wedding gift that she receiced from a rich Greek, Stavros Nyarchos. Originally a large necklace of two rounds of rubys and diamonds, was wear before by the great actress Sofía Loren and Audrey Helpburn. She made it a tiara, but it's still stunning. It's a personal jewel, not a part of the Royal colection, so we don't know if it's going to be in the hands of one of those two b*****, of she decided to give it to any grandaughter. With 84 years, Queen Sophia of Spain was sent as the Spanish Royal Family representation, while Juan Carlos were there a s a personal guest. She rewear a grey Valentino, one of her fav designers since the 70's, dress that was wear first time in 2004, for the banquet.
