As China announced visa exemptions from 6 European countries from March this year, Thupten Gyatso tells VOA Tibetan that as a Belgium citizen with China visa exemption he travelled to China with high hopes to meet his family in Tibet ...but at Shanghai Airport, the immigration and security personnel detained him for 20 hours, searched his belongings including his phone, finding the portrait of the Dalai Lama and Tibetan National Flag, and was harshly interrogated. He urges fellow Tibetans to travel to Tibet and China with caution.
