His Holiness the Dalai Lama speaks to the Canada Tibet Committee about the effects of climate change in the Tibetan Plateau.
Glaciers in Tibet are melting at a rate faster than anywhere else in the world and this has a direct impact on river flows, natural hazards, the ecosystem, as well as on people and their livelihoods.

I am so disturbed to learn about the climate change affect on Tibet. I have been to Lhasa and have also had a private audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. I am a Christian but pray every night for His Holiness and all Tibetans - both in the homeland and in exile. Barbara Brechin Ontario, Canada

Paleontologists dig out a fossil that dates to about a million years before other known woolly rhinos. The find casts new light on the evolutionary importance of the Tibetan highlands before the ice age. Searching across the Tibetan plateau, paleontologists have discovered a species of woolly rhinoceros that may be an ancestor of the great ice age beasts that roamed the plains of North America, Europe and Asia.

@Aetopus Prime example why individual responsibility is the only way forward.Ignoring the cost as long as the price is right, relying on puppets to change things,looking/walking away to make the problem go away,etc..do not seem to be working.Perhaps it's time to start voting that makes a change, with wallets.

I personally don't know what to feel about dams. For example, the Hoover Dam in Nebraska is also the main water source provider of the city of LA, and it does reduces a lot of cost of electricity. Some argued that the construction of the Hoover dam was one of the key factors to the success of the US economy during WWII. This was then copied and pasted all over the world. This massive engineer innovation changes people‘s way of life. I am not saying that Dalai Lama is being so drama. I think respecting nature is great. I also believe besides exhausting water source from Tibet, there should be some other ways to capture and reuse stormwater and greywater locally, because honestly, that's would make the most sense logistically. It does saddens me to see the changes we as human brought to the nature, but at the same time, nature changes all the time, who am I here to judge what is best for nature itself?
