you guys are built tough man !!! seriously that lady was 75 and attempted to climb the mountain!!!! most 75 yr old would not even step out of their beds let alone climbing mountains. and how the hell these people built those stupas and monasteries on such elevations !! walking is one thing and actually getting building material to that height and building something is just something else. After seeing these people prostrating and making so many Kora's around Kailasa - i seriously believe that some energy must be rising from the mountains for people to reach there. That mountain and its surroundings definitely has some mysterious energy. sitting in my home it seems unimaginable. I must start on a Barley diet form now on. Tsampa.

This holy mountain of Kailash has been revered for many many millennia by the people of Bharath (India). One lady, named Punithavathi from Kaaraikkaal (Tamilnadu), who lived about 1500 years ago, travelled to Kailasha Malai. She was devoted to Shiva and considered Kailash to be his form. She respected the place so much that she would not let the holy hill be stamped by her own feet. She decided to access the hill without putting her feet down on it. She actually must have moved around on her hands and knees and resting only her head on the ground. She is affectionately referred to as "Kaaraikkaal Ammaiyaar" in Tamil and worshipped as a great saint poet and a sage. A statue of hers adorns in almost all major well known Shiva Temples of Tamilnadu.
