Ticketmaster, Live Nation sued by DOJ over alleged monopoly

Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Thursday an antitrust lawsuit against Ticketmaster and its parent company Live Nation. The Justice Department is accusing them of illegally monopolizing the live entertainment industry to the detriment of concertgoers and artists alike.

Its about time. Years ago there was a mom and pop place with swimming and fishing lakes about 30 miles away from St Louis Mo. I think it was one of their sons who was friends with members of Pure Prairie League and Marshall Tucker band. To help the mom and pop lake owners keep their business alive once a year both bands would play a fund raiser at the lakes. Ticket master sued the lake owners and demanded a cut of the profits. The owners tried to fight it but they couldn't afford it and lost everything.

iOS app store is a service of a single product. You can go to another phone manufacturer, to avoid using the specific service of the specific product. Live Nation has the monopoly control over the entire entertainment market, you can not avoid it.
