Listen, I am not here for the US vs UK arguing. I am here to show love where it is due. The UK from the standpoint of music, acting, and art right now are on another level. I might be late to this but after watching Top Boy I have been doing my research on guys like Dave, Mansur Brown, Alfa Mist, Yussef Dayes, etc. Listen Wah-gwaan to all our Brothers in the UK and world wide. Lets show unity know matter where we live. We all come from the same tree. Africa.
@Deco_2k5 жыл бұрын
i am from the US but let me tell you, the UK will win they are more lyrical the US rapper all across the board, reason being see most US rapper just influence by rap, but the UK rapper now they have crazy influence from the different genre like Africa music, dancehall, grime, hip hop and all that, so all round they mostly versatile, if you don't overstand the accent you might not get it ..but i think by now everybody pretty much get it .. i mean its English Jesus christ its not rocket science, that sorta tell me that ppl in the US is kinda slow bro .. no like facts! I am in the US and i understand all of what they are saying the there rap, yeah one-two English slang throw you off but you still get 98% of what they are saying
@theinfamouspokeinrichmondc35435 жыл бұрын
Bro I 100% agree with you. I get HELLA frustrated when I am trying to explain how dope UK artist are to my peeps and their only come back is they can't understand them due to their accent. I'm like HOW? We have hella different accents in the US. I am from the Bay Area and we in Richmond talk different from our peeps in Oakland who are 11 miles away. Boston has an accent. Virginia, New Orleans, etc. I just don't get it. Also I agree with you on bars and the overall musical influences they have over in the UK that makes them versatile. For example, I got turned onto to Burna Boy after listening to Dave's Location. Now I can't stop playing African Giant album. I think Burna Boy might be one of the next biggest international music superstars next. He is an incredible talent with a strong message. So I am here for it. I love Dave, Skepta, JME, Kano, Stormzy, etc. Keep doing yalll thang our UK Bros and Sis. Its ALOT of us here in the US that got nothing but love and respect for yall. The UK has been putting out better music than the US for the last few years now and I'm not even gonna say it's sad because it's long overdue. Mans across the pond got the juice right now! Trust, the industry is peeping what's going on over there too...
@@whywerentyouthere I said the last few years bruv... it's a good list, but all of those artist you've named have been in the game for a good while. Solange is ancient and took 10 plus years to finally drop a solid project, Kendrick is a vet now, Frank is... idk lol, Buddy is a journeyman, Sweatshirt is still underground, Tyler is on his 5th album, Paak has been around for a minute too. Also almost everyone you've named are R&B artist. Ella Mai is British and had the hugest hit over here with Boo'd Up and Trippin' and she just won a grammy for R&B. Im not knocking it, but I was moreso referring to Hip Hop. I'm not knocking what we have over here, but the majority of the projects that have been released by UK artist have been better in my personal opinion from a quality perspective (SKEPTA, Octavian, Not3s, Fredo, Wretch 32, Chip, AJ Tracy, JME, Stormzy, Headie One, Dave, etc etc).
@enskeez68155 жыл бұрын
@@itstaevihs idk about that because a lot of the people in the UK don't consider grime hip hop even tho it's clear the relation it has, so many of the people you name can't really be considered. But Dave and J Hus I believe will be the ones to take UK global
@whywerentyouthere5 жыл бұрын
Tavis Snell Solange dropped back to back amazing album what do you mean she's ancient and Frank is elusive but he gave us album of the decade (debatably). I hear you though but if we're going to stick to rap (and I'm assuming you're talking quality album not successful/hit albums) then you have a bunch of great new artists such as Isaiah Rashad, saba, noname, j.i.d, bas, Travis, Vince staples, gibbs, maxo kream, rhapsody, cordae etc. btw you mention people that have also been in the game for a min!
