Tiddly Prom began back in 2004, specially devised and designed by Arts Active’s creative team for the under 5s. It began with ‘Bert’s Magical Musical Allotment’ with shows at St David’s Hall and performances for Sure Start centres. Next came ‘Bert’s Magical Musial Kitchen’ with another tour for Sure Start centres and the Night Out Scheme and even more shows in St David’s Hall. In 2006 ‘Bert’s Magical Musical Farmyard’ had it’s premier and all three shows were performed every year in rotation after this and it became a staple as part of the Welsh Proms. A new show was created in 2015; ‘Cherry Pies Holiday Adventure’, and an additional bonus Christmas show was first performed in 2014, taking place every December since called ‘Bert and Cherry’s Christmas Plum Pudding’.
All our live shows have been devised and scripted by David Baxter, Bryony Harris, Helen Woods and Richard Berry, directed by David Baxter, stage and set design by Bryony Harris and original music composed by Helen Woods.
Tiddly Proms are a great opportunity for the under 5’s to experience music interactively, with professional musicians in a creative and fun environment. With original music played by orchestral musicians, a fun, silly story and two lovable characters, the Tiddly Prom introduces the young audiences to music and a full range of musical concepts whilst entertaining all on every step of the journey.
