I love the colors. Quick question: If you were to ice dye this shirt, would you put the oxblood red on first, then turn over and put the powder colors of yellow and deep orange on the top? Then ice, would the oxblood still come through?

Thank you! I don't know if I've ever added liquid color to the back before ice dyeing, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I normally ice dye the front first, and after the ice melts turn the shirt over and add liquid dye to the back. Hmmm...I wonder if the melting ice would dilute the oxblood and make it lighter? I might have to compare the two methods sometime and see what happens.

With a liquid dye like this, how long did you let the shirt sit before rinsing? I agree with the others, the look of a sunrise/sunset is very pronounced and very appealing with this shirt.

Thank you! It's still pretty hot here, but I went ahead and left it for about 1-2 days (because I was working on other projects) before I rinsed it out. If I have the shirt processing outside in the summer when it is over 100 degrees, I will sometimes rinse it after about 12 hours. However, I usually wait about 24 hours before rinsing them.

Why does ringspun cotton take less dye?

I'm not entirely sure. The ring spun cotton shirts I buy aren't quite as thick as a regular Gildan Ultra Cotton shirt and so that has a little to do with it.
