Very cool job and great descriptive video. Not sure if you know of Jenn Manufacturing foam tip brushes but you may want to try them for putting the dyes on your items. I use the plastic jars that Dharma uses for 1 pound of dyes it's a great way to reuse them plus you can save any unused dye with the lid. Also, I don't use all of the auxiliary chemicals most suppliers recommend , they really don't seem to make that big a difference to me. Just dye & h2o &maybe salt for turquoises & colors containing it. Thanks for the instructions. Peace, Love, & SAFETY to all.
@FunEndeavors3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The foam brushes are great for tie dyeing. I've used them several times to apply black dye to the back of an item, but I haven't ever tried them for applying all the dye though. That's also a great use for the dye containers. I'll have to try that sometime. I hope you have a great week! 🙂

Your voice is so sweet. I am new to tie dye so thank you. What happens when we don't use soda ash and the shirt is not dry? thank you.
@FunEndeavors Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I use fiber reactive dye which requires soda ash to properly bond with the fabric. Without it, the dye will almost totally wash out of the shirt. If the shirt isn't dry when you dye it, you will need to take a little extra time to make sure you get the shirt fully saturated with dye. If the inside of this thick fold is too damp, it will be a little more difficult to get the dye to saturate that area and you may possibly have a few white areas.

I really like how it turned out. question though. Why do you dye it dry? Does it work better for you? I find that I have more runoff when (liquid) dying a dry shirt. But with ice dying, it doesn't matter as much.
@FunEndeavors3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I usually like to dye the thicker folds like this one when they are dry to get better color saturation. The dye seems to soak into the shirt and fully saturated the middle better since it isn't too damp with soda ash solution. This fold would probably have been fine to dye damp, but by the time I ended up being ready to dye it - it was already dry.
