Yeah, zipper was the first thing that came to mind. If the coloring on the 'inside' vs 'outside' of the zipper were different colors, it would be even more pronounced. Could use this effect to 'open' up a dark coloring to a bright coloring or visa versa. Looks cool as hell.

Thank you - I'm glad you are enjoying the videos! Liquid dye mixes the powdered dye into a solid color. When the color is applied to the shirt it is usually a fairly uniform color. However when you ice dye with the powdered dye, the dye will split into the component colors used to make the dye. Since a lot of the dye colors are mixed colors, some really cool color splits can come out of the dye when it is used for ice dyeing. There are a few colors that are pure colors and won't split, but most are mixed colors. Liquid dyed shirts usually don't have as much color variation either. There may be a few lighter and darker areas on the shirt, but with ice dyeing there is usually quite a bit of color variation. There will be areas that are darker and lighter on the shirt which gives quite a bit of depth to the shirt. Some of the ice dyeing techniques will also give a watercolor effect to the shirt. The way the dye moves and flows on the shirt gives some really unique effects.

I love the purple and red together. When I was a little girl, my grandmother pulled me aside to tell me that my red shorts and purple top was a fashion no-no. The two colors didn't go together. I think I was...6. lol I didn't care then and I don't care now. 🤣

Hi! Quick questions: 1. How do you make the colors so vibrant? I ask because my tie dye ends up faded even if I leave it resting for days. 2. How much dye powder do you use in a bottle?

There are a lot of factors that can lead to faded shirts. Are you using Procion Fiber Reactive Dyes? I mix my dyes according to the suppliers instructions. For Dharma dyes I use either 2,4,or 8 teaspoons of dye to 1 cup of water. It depends on the color. If you are using the same kind of dye that I am, are you allowing them to process in a hot enough environment? They should be processed in a space that is at least 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, are your shirts 100% cotton?

@@FunEndeavors hey! I use Jacquard procion mx dyes and my shirts are 100% cotton as well. If I could Perhaps email you some photos, could you maybe see what is happening? I'm just kinda lost because I see these tie dye videos and they all come out so bright and mine look dull and faded
