When u was done folding i was thinking there is no way the dye would go tho all that..was super surprised ..came out great..i started watching raih a few months ago n suggesed she reminds people to sub just sayimg does not work..watched her for weeks before i realized i wasn't subbed n she put a ding with subscribe n got 30k subs in about a month..it really does help..every one dies it..thanks for sharing

You’re right, Zalia, it’s a very thick fold. That’s why I muck dye these. It helps with saturation. Otherwise this would need to be flipped and dye applied to the other side. Yes, Riah’s channel has really taken off. She’s very artistic. 😊❤️🌈

Try this with a reverse. It might turn out pretty cool. I should make some reverse dyes again. The last round was so labor intensive, I really didn’t enjoy it. The aspect of recording everything adds another layer to it. ☺️❤️🌈

I love how this turned out, Steph. I have some of Riah's merchandise but I didn't know she had a white one. Maybe it doesn't turn black because the muck is mostly water. I have my own way of muck dyeing but I can only batch for a couple of hours, I use liquid dyes, if I leave it longer it will turn super dark and lose all the lighter colors. My studio is 84°F so I don't need to batch very long anyway. Thanks for sharing:)

@@BelladonnaDyesCo Hi Steph. Yup, it gets pretty toasty up there. I don't open windows so there is no humidity. I dye in wash tubs that you do dishes in. Dish pans, is that what you call them? I fold most projects into scrunches, they turn out the best, and I call the process bucket dyeing. I call the finished projects galaxies as they remind me of the night skies. Decide what background color you want, say black. Take a dish pan and add enough dye to cover the bottom and then a tiny bit more. Have your other colors ready in squeeze bottles. Take a second dish pan and fill it with water. Don't make it too heavy that you can't lift it. Scrunch and tie a shirt. You place it in the dye, make sure it goes in flat. Don't press it in unless it tacos on you. Let the dye soak in, it will be fast, add the other colors before the dark dye overtakes the whole thing. Now pick up the second water filled dish pan and place it on top of the project. The weighted pan squashes everything underneath. Add more water to the top pan if there is room. I batch for a few hours because it is hot where I am. The results are amazing. I just did a pair of jeans, oh my! The patterns are very fractal like frost on a winter day. It takes a little practice trying to get the batch time down but when perfected it's beautiful.

Yes. Specks… but as you know it doesn’t matter. They show up on both sides regardless. It’s more of a habit now. Although, the seams lay flatter and smoother inside out. For this shirt I didn’t want to pull on the decal too much and wreck it. It came out just fine. 😎❤️🌈

My theory as to why it doesn't turn black is because as the ice melts it gradually saturates the fabric and that gives more time for the dye to react with the soda ash so those colors get kinda locked in and you really didn't use colors that would mix to black. Caribbean Blue is pretty strong so that's why your water at the end was mostly that color. It also didn't look like as much of that made it into the shirt. Muck dyes also give you a kind of haze that can be really cool. The dye that doesn't react just washes out...I now understand why you didn't want to explain it...kind of a nuanced thing (if I am right of course...lol ...isn't everything on the internet true?)
