What do you mean by soaked in soda ash ?

Soda ash is a powder you mix with water to soak the shirt in. It help keep the color from fading. You can get it at hobby lobby. Tie die the shirt damp.

why did you leave the white space after the mickeys head instead of dying that a color as well?

because of the bleed over factor. if i put the next color right up against the mickey head the two color will blend and 1. dull the black and 2. possibly distort the shape of the head

Can I ask why you used twine on some parts and rubber bands on others?

i use the twine to tie off the pattern instead of rubber bands because it holds it together better.

most come from colorado dyes. they are procion mx. other options are dharma trading in california, standard dyes in north carolina, and finally, prochem dyes
