Hopefully you aren’t forced to play this game forever , unless you’re really enjoying it then by all means. This was my favourite game for a few years but it just doesn’t deserve my time anymore with the lack of stability and new character additions. They could have easily added characters every year and still to this day and chose not to. The rollback and the updates are just to late we want new characters. A damn movie released and they couldn’t add beast gohan or piccolo. Lazy and I don’t understand the point to these updates anymore.

To me, (I can't speak for anyone else ofc) Team Games are always going to feel better to play when they're less serious and more volatile and expressive. If I wanted a very serious 1 vs 1 format where the goal is to outperform the opponent, I'd just play Tekken. DBFZ is the last thing I'd choose. I'd choose Tekken over Season 1, 2, 3, or whatever Season we're on now of DBFZ. The reason I think something like DBFZ benefits from unserious Patches where they unambiguously raise the average power of characters and give them way more Options is that unlike a traditional 1 vs 1 fighter, losing a Character in a Team Game means that you lose Options. Unlike in Tekken Tag and some other Tag Games, you don't lose when a Character dies. You lose when the whole Team gets beat. And because of this, there are no Rounds. There are only Games. This fundamentally changes how the Player responds emotionally. If you take DBFZ seriously, it really hurts to have your Characters systematically taken down because your Assists become less powerful, and your Options decrease. But if you make it apparent from the starting line that it's not a serious Fighting Game, and you expand the Option list, you Buff Anchor Characters without having to make any dedicated Mechanics to that like Limit Breaker. If you make changes that err on the more unserious side, then no one has to get so emotionally invested. Sure, the Top Level Players are going to feel the burn of this a lot more than the casual Player, but that's their cross to bear as someone who wants to play Mario Party for money, there's tons of other Fighting Games out there. The only problem with this is not with DBFZ, it is with Dragon Ball as a property and not unwarranted fan expectations of a legit Fighting Game out of this Shounen Action Series. We've still yet to really get like a 1 vs 1 out of Dragon Ball that was a legit Tournament Viable option. This Game was basically the first time we've ever had something like that. We had Super Dragon Ball Z but nobody played that shit, and it looked kinda wack and slow. My biggest problem with DBFZ is that people and the Game itself wanted to be taken seriously as this legit Fighting Game but at the very beginning it was clown world. You don't Whiff anything, Auto-Combos is legit Neutral. You hard commit on your Reads, Hitboxes are absurd, your Character dies in 1 Hit with the right Combo and the right Starter, CONSISTENTLY. That doesn't have to be a bad thing, it's just a thing. Arc Sys has now completely committed to it being clown world rather than this one foot in, one foot out approach and I think I'm ready to give DBFZ another shot. Previously I left the Game because I was like: "Why would I give any time to this Game when it's so volatile and it feels like trash when I lose a Team Member?" Not only is that issue remedied by making each Character more powerful and distinct, it's also clearly not as serious. I'm MUCH more interested in DBFZ now that it seems like it's not trying to be so legitimate.
