I read The Only Good Indians, The Year Of The Witching and The Hollow Places this year because of your recommendations and all of those are in my top 10 of the year! So thank you 😄 Also this year I discovered I like Ruth Ware. I think that maybe either your rum & coke, margarita or wine category would be for me since I read thrillers pretty much only to have fun time and read something not that deep. For example I read The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley after Dune because even though I loved Dune I feel like my brain needed a break after it. Also I'll defend a bloody Mary til the say I die even though all my friends find it disgusting.

What makes a good Old Fashioned vs a bad Old Fashioned? I've never tried one before, but now I'm intrigued.
@BooksandLala3 жыл бұрын
The thing about an old fashioned is there's nothing disguising the flavour of the alcohol, unlike many other mixed drinks. So usually you have to try like 10 different whiskey/rye/bourbons before you find the right one for you. As far as the actual making of the drink, I've had bartenders use terrible bitters, far too much bitters, served at a poor temperature, the wrong type of sugar, you name it. It's an easy drink to get "wrong" you could say.
@taliw77363 жыл бұрын

As per usual, I dropped everything to watch this, and I don't even like tier ranking videos. 😂 This was definitely a fun video! I think I would have put Miracle Creek in the wine category. I don't think it's the easy, fast-paced read that I would categorize for the margarita tier 😂 It has layers to it, much like the flavor profiles of wine and it's a book you might want to savor, rather than fly through.

You missed The Secret History, which I feel like is the very definition of an old fashioned- 1000 pages, relatively slow-paced, pretentious, the people who love it adore it, the people who hate it despise it. I think most if not all literary thrillers in general would go in that category- Eileen, In the Woods, The Collector, The Maidens, etc. Personally, I would put If We Were Villains in Bloody Mary. I just don't get why so many people love that book so desperately, but that might be my fault for reading The Secret History before it.
