I genuinely don't think I ever consciously studied anything until I discovered anki lol. I finished high school in 2017, taking honors classes, under the pretense of "Well I pay attention in class, and I'm relatively smart so its not needed", so I never developed studying techniques and had a really bad time when I got to college. Only recently did I find anki while trying to learn another language, and I actually really enjoy studying using it! Having it alone, but also knowing there exist better methods than the treacherous note taking makes me consider at some point going higher than just my associates in college.

omg that's actually so great! i agree, people emphasise note-taking too much, anki (and other active recall methods) are so much more effective and important :)
