Don't forget that the Tamandua has learned the "T-Pose" emote and combined it with the Attack "Hug of Death", where it grabs the enemy player and sinks their claws into it. That can deal MASSIVE damage to small players. It could oneshot the house-cat build. Having the most iconic (and arguably best) Intimidation Emote in the game combined with a pretty good grapple-attack as a seemless combo is impressive

In Brazil all anteaters are called tamanduá. The giant one is called tamanduá-bandeira. Bandeira means flag, so the name is due to its huge tail which resembles a waving flag.

Casual Geographic did a video on them a while back, too. Their appearance apparently makes it difficult for predator players to tell which end is the front, meaning they may end up ambushing the bushy tail, putting them way too close to the claws. Also, being mammals, they also possess the Mammalian Diving Reflex perk, meaning they can swim much better than they really need to.

It's true. They are among the only builds in their server that Jaguar players have been shown to actively avoid unless necessary. A face off between the two is certainly not an auto win for the anteater by any means, but if the jaguar fails to score a critical hit in its initial attack (which, given their high HP, even a high level jaguar player needs), an anteater counter will usually inflict massive, if not lethal damage. On top of that, they have an extremely high critical rate, rivaling the jaguar itself. Jaguars have solid HP, but not enough to tank a crit from an anteater. The only thing holding them back IMO, even if it's only a little, is their reliance on counter based play due to their low speed stat.

Also worth noting is, while the Giant Anteater doesn't have an amazing stealth stat, they have a fairly unique armor perk that lowers the critical rate of anything that gets critical damage from headshots, a fact that gives jaguar players even more pause. This is because anteater heads are designed to look like their tail or any other appendage, and they have a unique walk cycle that boosts this effect, so targeting the wrong appendage will cause your headshot to whiff, robbing you of the crit and giving the anteater a clear chance to use one of its incredibly dangerous counter attacks practically for free.

Echo fighters/convergent evolution would be an interesting topic for another video. In the case of the anteater for one, you have the echidna who technically even premiered the anteater play style despite not being related to them at all. However, there are big differences too, even in convergent play styles. Echidnas have absolutely zero attack, but high intelligence, high stealth and a bunch of leftover evolution points that were spent on perks like electroreception and quadrupedal burrowing. They got away with being more gimmicky because never had to deal with crazy predator builds like those in the South America or Africa servers pressuring them, so they specced into things more specific to the Australia server like the ability to skip the wildfire event in spite of their low speed stat through their quadrupedal burrowing skill and low-metabolism hibernation. Even with top tier predator builds like cats and foxes griefing the server, they're still the most widespread mammal build on the Australia server, all without installing the live birth patch too. Funnily enough, the larger Indonesian variants are actually less efficient than the smaller Australian one and would probably benefit from taking a page out of the anteater's book.

One thing that anteaters have that i've learned from some science channels is the big fluffy tail can trick predators into attacking it instead of the main head of the anteater thus reducing the chance they get 1 shotted by big cats as they have a hard time figuring out which end is the one with claws.
