After speaking with a paleontologist, I'd like to correct a mistake I made in this video. Hadrosaurs could run much faster than elephant, in fact about double their top speed. This made it more than capable of outrunning the predators of their day. With that said, canines and felines can still outrun them, so the point I made about them not being able to outspeed today's predators stands.

I think the dinosaurs would have no chance in today’s meta. They would be seen as dangerous by humans. We all know what happens to builds that humans don’t like.

That's true, but unlike the humans of the prehistoric Australia server, today's humans hold the the "Cool Factor" meta-stat to be incredibly valuable from an aesthetic point of view. They may not gain traction in the wild, but it may surprise you to learn that human builds are among the biggest proponents of a dinosaur remaster.

I was so pissed when they banned all the dinosaurs. I litterally got my T-rex to max level a few days before the patch. After that I quit the game for a while, but I started playing again in 2001, as a human ofc because they're just so OP. So I really hope they don't nerf or ban humans because I swear to god then I'm quitting this game foever. Also heard a rumor about the servers shutting down soon because the humans just ruined it. That would suck even more than them just getting banned...

Nothing humans do can totally shut down the servers, don't worry. Although that being said, the way the devs designed the sun the heat levels in the game will eventually not be able to support liquid water anymore. THAT will be the end of the game, more or less.

Even though Top Tier, Humans are still balanced right now. They lack in defense and attack when they don’t carry add-ons. That’s why I usally pick a class that has natural defense and attack like brown-bears or elephant. As to destroy the servers, they probably won’t be able to do much, exept increase the chance of a randomly generated natural disaster and the heat levels

Actually there has been one class that was banned and has been unbanned again. A bird class called the Aldabra rail was banned quite a while ago but players of other classes spent their evolution points perfectly to become the Aldabra rail class and the dev's have done nothing about it since, so I personally believe it is unbanned

I always thought that Dinosaurs were incredibly op because of the influence of movies and other culture. I never once considered that they're just regular animals. So it's really weird to see hypothetically seeing dinosaurs having a hard time in the new era.

They were just animals, but many dinosaurs had a long time to specialize, and there are countless examples of dinosaurs which were far more specialized than any mammal ever was. Trex is one of them. They were about as fast as elephants, but they had airsacs so could keep the high speed far longer than any mammal ever could. They could also see ultraviolet and had a phenomenal sense of smell. And of course....they were 10 tons of carnivore. Mammals lived most of our existence along side non avian dinosaurs, 90 million years along side them and we could not compete. As soon as they died out we took over. They were built better, no ifs and or buts about it. We see many of their advantages in the only living dinosaurs [birds].

Non-Avian Dinosaurs are far from OP. Many of them were big over specialized creatures that were not able to deal with an extinction event. BTW even w/o the hard reset brought by the devs in the form of the Asteroid Event they would have gone extinct eventually. The lower weight classes were already mostly replaced by Avian Dinosaurs aka Birds and Mammals for a reason and with time who's to say that those same creatures would have taken their spot. Mammals for example besides the higher average intelligence have better strategies to raise the lower level ones to a good level when compared to Dinosaurs. Also Birds are overall much better than their non avian brethren, flight is a powerful defensive tool which pretty much meant they did not need to grow in size to be able to defend themselves lowering their need of massive loot to survive plus even land based bird builds are better than the Dinosaurs of the past due to better thermo regulation and higher inteligence. Also beaks are such a great offensive tool when compared to teeth it's not even funny.

@@Epsilonsama I disagree. You're generalizing a 200 million year domination on a last act. The triassic extinction, believe it or not, was deadlier than the kt extinction. Dinosaurs flourished in that extinction. During the triassic and jurrassic there were plenty of small generalist dinosaurs and even pterosaurs. Late cretaceous unfortunately nonavian dinosaurs and pterosaurs were all pretty specialized and medium to large. Small bat sized pterosaurs were gone by this time, we dont know the reason. We don't know dinosaurs intelligence, a recent study concluded that trex may have been as smart as chimpanzees. Fact is we don't know. Dinosaurs likely did not have a slow metabolism, that is an outdated theory. Mammals and birds both evolved 150 million years ago. This means that for 90 million years they both lived along side the nonavian dinosaurs. Yet we never had a megafauna bird incapable of flight [ostrich] and the biggest mammal was 40lbs max during those 90 million years. This is because they could not compete with the nonavian dinosaurs. Nonavian dinosaurs had many of the advantages over mmammals which birds have including hollow bones which are stronger structurally [though ornithischians had marrow bones like us], they had child care just like birds. They had unilateral respiratory system and all saurischians had airsacs, so their breathis was 2.5x more efficient than mammals primitive lungs [yes, our lungs are primal in comparison]. Nonavian dinosaurs had an advantage over birds: a straight posture which is more efficient and allows for large size, this is why the largest birds ever weighed as much as a bison. 150 million years of evolution, countless megafauna and the biggest isnt bigger than bison... Dinosaurs were op, an extraterrestrial object had to end their dominance.

I love TierZoo, and I found this one especially interesting. IMO if Dinosaurs were un-banned, Human players would probably kill most, and keep a few in zoos. I feel like Jurassic Park was incredibly un-realistic as far as the ineptitude of the design of the enclosures. Crocs actually have a pretty high intelligence level. They have specced into parental care, can communicate and also have been known to use tools. Perhaps most impressively, they have insane pattern recognition. If they see a man setting traps at around 5 p.m. every day, they will notice this and plan for an attack days, weeks or even a month ahead. Many crocs and alligators have been known to do this to other players who regularly visit a certain feeding spot or travel along the same path.

I have actually thought of this myself. The main issue with re-adding dinosaurs would be the human armor. We have heat vision, capable of finding any egg. We have planes (A-10 and AC-130 come into mind) that can ruin them. And if worst comes to worst, we can always just use our subs or tanks. Their only chance would be to rush and kill all our leaders, Zerg style. Even then, that would be incredibly difficult.

i think hadrosaurs are heavily underrated here. sure they might not have the speed or incredibly weaponry, but their size is super unknown to most ppl. hadrosaurs like the parasaurolophus and edmonotosaurus are absolutely massive, at around the size of an elephant, so its needless to say they would also be quite safe from all predators in their adult stages. for the point of the trex, if it was brought back on its own, they might be able to sustain themselves with a lot of buffaloes, wildebeast, etc. however they could also be outrun by these animals, so yea it might not fare too well. its simply too big for our current gamemode, and its possible prey would be too small. However, if it and the rest of the dinosaurs were brought back as well, it would simply feast on the other herbivores from its time, just like it always did.

But as mentioned in the video, the bigger the build, the faster your energy bar depletes. And while carnivores benefit from meat being a high energy resource, it takes more effort to harvest it. And since the large predator classes have lower speed stats than modern, smaller classes (predator or not) they would struggle to compete in the resource grind. And even if the dinosaurs focused into a PvP strategy to leach off the other predators, most of their competition wouldn't fight them but avoid them. While modern predators would struggle to take down large, late-game herbivores, the newbie sauropod players would get curb stomped, leading to the sauropod class falling out of use as the older players eventually retire. While a T. Rex main might be able to win a 1v1 against most other players, that just wouldn't be a very common part of the meta. Probably the only viable path for large dinosaur mains is to get the entertainer subclass and get resource sponsorships from human factions. Unfortunately, the vast majority of human factions see the coliseum sub-meta as barbaric and outdated, leading to these factions working only in private, unmoderated servers. Ironically, this just makes the practice more dangerous for the exploited players that get sucked into it. Something that I think would be a large advantage for dinosaur players is their efficiency in heat dumping. The current environment meta is cooler than when the dinosaurs were a playable class, and many classes haven't fully adapted since the last ice age version. If the speculation by the community that the devs are gonna keep making patches to raise the temperature to a similar level of the Cretaceous is true, classes like the elephant are gonna have to reassign skill points from size, or find an evolution totem to add more points into their cooling skill.

That pre-patch footage of dino's though... Ugh. I didn't even realize how many gfx updates the devs had rolled out since the Jurassic patch. Whatever out think of the meta now, at least Outside has much better graphics these days.

I agree but some world design needs to be improved. Atm humans cut down trees faster than they can respawn. Then again it might create interesting late game if all trees are gone and if enviroment changes because of that.
