Tiffany Haddish sits down for an exclusive Off-Air interview with Big Boy and shares some of the adversity that shaped her career - from physical abuse at home to bullying in school. The comedian remembers learning to read at 16 years old, taking care of her siblings, being placed to the foster system, trying to join a gang, attending comedy camp, and meeting Richard Pryor. Plus, she discusses her role in the “Girls Trip” movie, working with Jada Pickett Smith, and she receives her flowers from Big Boy. Watch the full interview exclusively on BigBoyTV.

Big Boy, let me tell you that this interview, in my humble opinion, is one that needed to be had with Tiffany! You gave her the stage to tell her story in a loving way to be able to give her her flowers in the end! This was beautifully done! I applaud you and most importantly I thank you Tiffany for sharing your life and gifts with us! Your life and journey is truly phenomenal in the sense that you were called to be a light and reflect that light in what you do and I always knew when I first saw you hit the stage in a comedy show my best friend put me on that you were special and your trajectory has shown that! Keep shining and keep being you and elevating! Your work here is not done and there’s so much more greatness for you to accomplish! Big Boy, keep killing man! We love y’all both frfr!

What an emotionally amazing interview. She's definitely living up to her mom's edict: leave the space better than it was before you were there.

I started tearing up because her story is damn near parallel to mine. Minus the CPS, instead I was removed from my mom and siblings to someone elses home. And, instead of the physical abuse I received verbal/emotional abuse from 8/10 y/o until I left the house at 16 and moved in with an older sister. So, I know exactly what she meant. I look back then and forward now thanking God for what I know now and I had to recently go back to those times and forgive my “guardian “ along with my younger self and turn that pain into purpose and grief into grace. Everyone has a story some of us checked out and some of us are just lost, and feeling unloved because we don’t know how or what it looks like. My saving grace was GOD! He sent my sister to get me and later he brought my stepdad in my life and that helped tremendously. Today I’m 37, loved by many mainly myself, I’m happy and it’s only evolution, abundance, peace and prosperity from here on. KEEP GOING TIF ❤

my heart really hurts for what she went through as a child...it must be acknowledged she should have NEVER gone through such things as a child...her childhood was taken by circumstances her mom it seems had no control over ...adults in her life failed her, her mom, dad and step dad and i am filled with so much emotions of grace for this woman...i wish her nothing but healing, unconditional love and happiness ❤❤

God bless Tiffany’s strength and determination. I’ve always enjoyed her humor and acting, yet to hear how she came up the ranks. Girl you are powerful, smart and incredibly talented. You are lovable, you are beautiful and you deserve all the good you get in life. So glad I took the time to hear what you had to say. Keep being the wonderful woman you are. The young ladies could learn so much from you. Thank you for sharing yourself. 💐❤️✌🏼😎

I love Tiffany, not just because she brings so much light to us and makes us laugh. But because she's so strong and real, God blesses her with resilience and longevity. So proud of you Tiffany! 😊🙏🏽💗 What the men at the comedy camp and Richard Pryor did for her was exactly what makes me love humanity! It's when we are at our best and can look into the life of someone who needs us to shed light. May more of us do that whenever we get the chance.

Most Comedians carry the deepest pain. Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor, John Belushi, Freddie Prince, Robyn Williams........ the list goes on and on. Tiffany Haddish has this amazing gift of light that she shares with the world. Who shares their light with Her? As long as she was perfect ; she was Celebrated. One mistake, one misstep; one wrong decision and Society is ready to throw her away. She has been thru the worst ( on many levels); yet Here she stands. You've got this Tiff! God's got You!

This was a beautiful interview. Tiffany is a woman who had to grow up fast and learn everything on her own. She may have fallen on her face a lot but she got back up. it’s tough taking care of a person with mental illness when your improvised but especially when being so young. I went through a similar situation having a family member I loved who suffered from bipolar and schizophrenia and it’s crazy how fast the government will just pull/separate kids from a household over trying to get treatments put in place to help them. The government has failed our children by just throwing them anywhere. Luckily she had a social worker who cared. Who offered solutions. No matter what people say about Tiffany Haddish her story is a Cinderella story. She’s a human and no one is perfect. Growing up in a environment where you’re abused on a constant, Told you not good enough, pretty enough, strong enough, being told you can’t all the time. This woman kept dreaming regardless of what her mom and the system told her! I can applaud that. It’s very inspirational. People need to stop living in the fucking past. From being Fucking Homeless to staring in Hollywood films 🎥. Y’all could never.

Growing up , after my mom died was so traumatic for me! But because she honestly made me feel like I was the most important person in the world , I didn’t honestly see the trauma. I just knew that regardless of what I was going through on any given day that I would succeed in the end. Listening to Tiffany’s story MADE me reflect on my childhood and realize the 💩 wasn’t right but look at me now ! And as I raise my son , his mom thinks I overdo it for him but it’s because I want him to have no parts of my growing up except for the belief and love my mom had for me. I can stand today and like Tiffany I can say HE READY when referring to myself !

She made it through. I’m glad you did some with your life, you shouldn’t have to go through that some kids make it through some kids don’t and that’s why you have a lot of bad teenagers in the world because of a mothers is not right. I didn’t say nothing about the fathers because the father is not there so it’s all the mother well I’m glad she pull through. Good luck Tiffany. A lot of kids go to this you be surprised.

Such a sad story but it's not unique to any of us that grew up in the hood. She shares many similar stories to a lot of us and that is the sad part. We need to do better in our communities and work together to make life more free and meaningful. We suffer because we lack unity. We should have already pooled all of our resources and money together to build our own hospitals, schools, banks, therapy outlets, grocery markets, businesses, apartment complexes, and much more. We will continue to suffer until we show unity and love toward each other!.
