I like her chopin. Emotional, elegant, clever, passionate, brilliant, sensitive, although she somehow exaggerates in some passages. But it's ok. That's our Tiffany. I stand with you forever. Keep up the good work! Thank you for every moment you are playing.

It's hardly that she 'exaggerates,' but rather that so many others perform without love for or noticeable personal identification with the music. I've studied this piece intently, and known. many who could play it very well myself included, but THIS lovely girl -- even in a field admittedly overcrowded with GIANTS -- is one of the most artistic, insightful, spontaneousl, and powerfully expressive players to come along in many years.

This is one of my favorite Chopin pieces ..Richter said he would throw up if he had to hear or play it again..but Richter preferred to play for his own ear and not for the audience...and he did admit it is a genius work of art..I really enjoy Tiffinays view on music..I wat h her blogs and she walks you through her thought process and really gives herself to the audience...she is a wonderful musician and has a lot of expression in her playing!

Talent, brain, taste - it is all there in abundance. The playing is very self assured and individual and has what I think is called 'attitude' these days. It made me smile, but it is certain that I shall never think of this sonata in quite the same way again.

Quite a 'sharp' sounding piano, bringing out the individuality of the notes ! You may be shy, please advise me if this is really not so ! You look wonderful !

I loved everything about this marvellous performance with one exception. I have listened to a great deal deal of your playing with much pleasure and admiration, but the SOUND of this particular PIANO doesn't begin do you justice. It sounds harsh, thin and twangy in the forceful passages. I don't think this has anything to do with you, the player. It is either the instrument, itself, or your sound engineer didn't do a very good job. You play with a genuine passion and rare refined artistry that reminds me of Guiomar Novaes at her best. At first I thought the Funeral March was too slow, and might sound lugubrious, but the cantabile section mesmerized me completely and the recapitulation was truly compelling. Not to be picky, but your Presto Finale would have had even greater impact if you played it more sotto voce, as Chopin directed, but it was stunning, even so. You lack nothing. Don't ever let anyone tell you do.

Unfortunately the recording equalization undermines the impact of Tiffany's performance. Even if you turn up the bass to maximum, the low end is far too thin. Contrast this with AyzeDeniz Gokcin's recording at kzbin.info/www/bejne/maTGoqqNmNmjrrc.

Excellent interpretation, considering Tiffany' was 18 years old, outright impressive. In her vlog "50 funny facts about me" she tells a background story about the time when she learned this work that shows that her way of thinking was way beyond her age. But, holy cow, what a sub-par piano! Out of tune; sounds like somebody over-lacquered the hammers, esp. in the descant register! Totally unworthy of this work and the pianist who plays it! So sad!

I beg to slightly disagree on the tempo of the Funeral March, being juuuust a breath too slow. It requires great mastery of piano dynamics to be able to keep the listener's attention at such tempos, which, however, you obviously possess! making this, an outstanding performance overall ! Keep up the great work !

@@folkeholmberg3519 I really enjoyed your comment there hahaha ! To elucidate, all marches (funeral, military, etc.) are actually meant to be performed by marching bands, setting the pace for groups in a ceremony/parade etc. (i.e. walking in sync). Funeral marches are undoubtedly very slow musical pieces intended to accompany funeral processions. Imagine a four or six people group solemnly stepping forward synchronized, carrying a coffin while all attendees follow them at their own pace. The tempo set for the leading group, should be so slow/fast to the point that they can still pace on comfortably, so to say, every count in music being a single footstep (in our case I'd say, roughly around 42-52 bpm for the opening theme, don't misunderstand me I'm not a metronome freak, its Chopin after all, it's only for common reference reasons). You might also find interesting a very clever remark in Horowitz's 1977 TV interview on another famous march tempo, a Military one: "The Stars and Stripes Forever", intended to be performed by bands, as the maestro explains, not so fast to the point that will force the parade groups to start running to keep up with the music. Anyway, enough with my chatter, all written from my heart, only the best intentions, love and respect. This was indeed a marvelous performance by an extremely talented artist !!

Thanks for your comment, Astrid- same with me. Emphasis on sometimes- Yuja is at her best playing big literature like Prokofiev and Rachmaninov, while Tiffany is more intimate and gentle- her Chopin is the best I've heard in a long time. Both have the same elegant touch- a blessing after the "Louder + faster = better" wave from the '60s to '80s. I started (and still are) a big fan of Yuja, but after I watched Tiffany by chance I stayed, more so that Yuja seemingly doesn't allow anymore uploading her concerts on Social Media while Tiffany live-streams hers and is always here for us........
