Tiffen Black Pro Mist 1/4 Filter Test | Sony A6300 | Sigma 18-35mm

Testing out the Tiffen 72mm Black Pro Mist 1/4 Filter on the Sony A6300 with the Sigma 18-35mm lens. First takes are without the filter and the second takes are with the filter.The filter diffuses highlights and give the video a more "Dreamy" look.
Shot in the following settings:
ISO: 2000
Shutter speed: 50
Aperture: F1.8
Picture Profile: Slog2
Shot in 4k UHD 24fps
Camera: Sony A6300
Adapter: Metabones Nikon G Mount to Sony E-mount
Lens: Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 Nikon Mount

Ive seen some of your other videos and noticed you used to own a g7, what would be the equivalent mode and settings of the slog2 profile on the a6300 on the g7? this video has pretty much the exact feel of this promo video that I want to shoot for my project, and I really want to at least get into the ballpark! I already purchased a sigma 18-35mm and speedbooster, and now this filter lol

The flattest profile for the Panasonic G7 is Cine-D. I believe Slog2 on the A6300 is a flatter profile, so the two quite aren't the same but I would recommend Cine-D for sure.

Thank you for the video! It seems that the last scene (IMO) to much washed out, because of the filter. I am still not sure whether 1/4 or 1/8 is better for my videos. Thanks again!

do you find some difficulties when shooting in daylight?

Not really. During the daytime the filter looks just fine. Anything above 1/4 will make your video more "dreamy". It's all in personal preference though.

Definitely! I use this lens 90% of the time when I shoot, it's a really sharp lens.

Lensface your one of the only if not the only person to upload a Sony a7/a6300 series camera with a promist filter. Do you think the slog and promist combined made to big of a difference? My 1/4 black promist never had that much mist/hallucination from the lights.

I think if you (or for me anyway) wanted to use this, slog combined with black promist, is just overkill on the highlight roll-off. If there was fog that might have been the culprit. But after watching on a monitor, I definitely love the difference with the shots at 0:40

I personally haven't tested the filter during the day ( I purchased it mainly for night shots) but I noticed a good amount of difference when I used the filter and shot in Slog 2. I wouldn't recommend using anything beyond a 1/4 filter with slog 2 though, the highlight roll would be a bit too much.

The noise was very minimal. I did not apply noise reduction in post.
