Tiffin Tips - Winterizing/De-winterizing Class A Open Road with a Truma System

Our first episode of Tiffin Tips features Engineering Director over our Class A/Super C division, Corbette Davis showing us how to winterize and de-winterize a Class A gas model with a Truma System.

1:15 Step 1: Turn off tank fill and water pump
-Make sure your water pump and tank fill are turned off. Ensure the bypass valve is set to “normal flow.”
1:39 Step 2: Drain fresh tank
- Drain your fresh tank completely before moving over to Truma System
1:45 Step 3: Locating the Truma System
- Remove the panel on the side of your coach
- Ensure power switch is turned off
- Release the valve and lower the drain gate. Remove the water heater filter
2:15 Step 4: Removing excess water with air pressure
- Use included hose attachment and secure into city water connection
- hook air up and open the valve
2:58 Step 5: Closing up Truma System
- Once all the water is out of the system, return to the Truma system.
- Close the gate valve.
- Release the pressure switch and replace the cover
3:12 Step 6: Draining water from appliances
- Loosen copper hose connected to the refrigerator. This valve is located on the passenger side of the coach.
- Go inside the coach and drain any water from refrigerator.
- Run a cycle in the washing machine and dishwater to get any water out.
3:37 Step 7: Draining Low Point Connections
- Remove hose connection from the valve
- Drain your low point connections to your hot and cold water
- Take off water filter with tool provided.
- Dump any water from filter and reinstall.
4:17 Step 8: Antifreeze
- Replace inlet of your pump with the included white hose, and place the other end of the hose into the antifreeze jug.
- Turn on the pump. But first make sure all of your faucets are closed.

- Run a short 2 minute cycle on both refrigerator and washing machine
- Open every fixture until the see the antifreeze coming out.
- Close the faucets

Are you sure the inlet side of the pump is on the left? On my 2020 Tiffin the inlet is on the right where the strainer is.

Good overview. Make sure to shut off the Truma hot water heater and run water through it to remove any hot water before draining.

Thanks for the video. I have one question about the process. Normally I put the hot water heater loop on bypass after draining it and blowing it out. This prevents having to fill the water heater with antifreeze when circulating pink antifreeze thru the rest of the plumbing. The info in the Owners Manual also indicates to leave the cartridge out of the Truma for the winter. The video does not mention that the black and grey tanks should be dumped prior to winterizing. Any water in the coach will freeze unless it is evacuated or replaced with antifreeze. Thanks again for the video and I agree with Leigh that it is helpful since we only do it once a year!

I have an Allegro Bay 2006... the wet bay does not have a water pump on off switch I am trying to winterize correctly... this is my first RV... do you have a video for the Allegro Bay 2006?

Great tips, but maybe more detail of the procedures on a coach with fluids would be more helpful. Also, a video for those without th Truma system.

Hey guys, I'm working on a 23' allegro bus, there's no "bypass" lever on that front panel. I have individual cold and hot valves and obviously the valve for tank fill and city. What am I missing?
