I find it hard to believe that so many people think that La Masia is the best youth academy in the world, they hit the jackpot with there golden generation, just like many great teams have done through the history of football. La Masia and Johan Cruyff developed their identity by copying Ajax and Rinus Michels tactics and training methods.(That is not a criticism) The greatest youth setup belongs to Ajax, they have produced more elite footballers than any other club in the world and have done so for nearly 50 years.
@Snacks0795 жыл бұрын
Great post. I agree, except for one thing. Cruyff is the one who invented total football. Many players who were present at the time all stated Michels was always listening to Cruyff. Michels may have given his own spin, but Cruyff was miles ahead of anyone when it came to football philosophy and tactics.

@@Snacks079 David Winners book Beautiful Orange has numerous interviews with players from the 70s Ajax side that counter your claim. The best football that Ajax side played wasn't under Michels and absolutely no one claims that Cruyff dictated how that side played. The football Barcelona played under Cruyff didn't resemble the Total Football in anything but the general formation 433/343 and didn't have an emphasis on la masia graduates. That's something Cruyff only spoke of and tried putting into practice after seeing the success that Van Gaal had with it. Simple explanation, when a club or any company is at a peak for so long. They are more than likely to use all measures to maintain their peak even to the point of undermining what took them here in the first place. From a bigger picture, what we see Barcelona has been doing is no different from what big companies like Microsoft and Apple did to stay on top. Edit: You can also see the United States doing similar things at a different level just to stay as the top superpower. they acquire so much debt, fight pointless wars, military spendings etc. It has already undermined the economic prosperity of many Americans.

Don't think so. They have realized what players are aging and slowly phase them out. They are actually quite good at such transitions. They let the aging legends stay to play 60 minutes or as subs until they finally go out with a nice ceremony, and they are always welcome back as staff or management. They have brought in so many players in the past few seasons, all have done quite well, except for one flop and a few really good ones plagued by injuries (Vermaelen, Rahfina, Dembele, Umtiti and Neymar to some extent). Their only difficulty has been their reaction to losing Neymar so suddenly. They haven't really gotten that 3rd striker which makes a powerful trio, because when you have that you win a lot of stuff (look at City and Liverpool now). Hell they even finally got a backup for Jordi Alba and he's not that old.

-Iniesta “ The problem is to give them hope and confidence” -Pique “Youth players choose money over sports project” -Xavi “ Nowadays the youth players are very impatient and demand to be given chances” The problem is not just the Hierarchy but the whole system, while Bartomeu kicked every staff of La Masia, and has stated that he will leave in 2020, it will still not solve the problems. Currently the manager is struggling to work with the first team and is not getting the result let alone “a good performance”, and some of the fans as well are very impatient and demand a good result due to Real Madrid’s recent success in UCL, even though Barca has been winning the league consecutively. I believe it’s a cycle of struggle that every successful teams face such as Man United, Arsenal, Milan, And Real Madrid, and the fans should be patience and not forget that the important factor in Barcelona’s success had been good performance.

The solvable problem is to build trust in loan programs with second and third tier league teams around Europe. Players with potential need minutes on good teams, not necessarily great teams. They can wait for chances on a first team for a few years as long as they are getting playing time and the opportunity to improve. The loan receiver gets quality players with rough edges for cheap, and they have to be a little careful to not sour the relationship by not giving loaned players enough minutes.
@behzadmastoor13825 жыл бұрын
I believe due to the youth players high wage demand the club and the loan club can’t afford to make a fair deal between each other, and the club as well should focus on the Lon players and not buy superstars that would result to youth players not getting chances after coming from loan.

Its reasonable to think that when you spend a fortune on expensive players that they'll make the team better again, but now thinking back on when these teams were strong, the majority of the players where part of the youth academy of that certain club and it just shows how important it is to incorporate it. Sorta like how Manchester City are always on top because the majority of the players have either known each other for many years, so the years of playing together is why they are where they are at the moment or from the academy, where Ajax last season proved how that factor helped to get where they were in the Champions.

The 1996-2000 Yankees had home grown players and talent that meshed well with eachother. In order to hold onto that success they emptied their farm system, bought high priced free agents and went a decade without a WS appearance. Even missed the playoffs once or twice. This is what Barca is going though. Theyll either figure it out and realize it was developing players that gave them their sustained success or they will be Manchester United. There are successful sports franchises who always stick to the plan, so to speak. They ride the ups and downs of that but never get greedy and try to maintain an unsustainable peak. Baseball Clubs like the St Louis Cardinals and Oakland A’s. Borussia Dortmund/Ajax. Even Bayern Munich follows this model although they spend big to keep players and even go out and buy stars. Ask me 7 weeks ago who’s going to be Chelsea’s goal scorer (willian - creative winger, pulisic - creative winger, Pedro - creative winger, giroud or Tammy Abraham) I would have 1 laughed, and 2 giroud 100% there’s no way that a kid who did decently in the championship was going to come and save the day for Chelsea, boy was I wrong. I’m not saying the team isn’t playing well. I’m just saying that if there was no transfer ban it would be a different story signing a top level winger and a new striker
@rounak4715 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelSmith-zv7om completely agree with you. Yes they need to sign an experienced striker and defender next summer but I'm low-key hoping instead of spending 300m on new team Lampard continue with the present with few signings. Maybe cause i like to see team with full of youngsters lifting the trophy rather than a team who spent millions in every window
@vishnubalakrishnanp2755 жыл бұрын
Chelsea were forced to play the youngsters. But the fact that Tomori, Tammy, and Mount have been the best players so far will have an effect on how the club will look at the youngsters. Chelsea's youth teams have been dominating both domestically and in Uefa youth leagues (5 finals, 2 titles) and with the likes of Morris and Edwards talented youngsters have more chances of getting into the team. Chelsea will be making smart buys next summer instead of the usual marquee ones.

The Youngsters are not coming threw the ranks as much as 2000's plus they spending massive in the transfer market. Plus they want Messi to win every game for them he's a great player but the other 10 players need to chip in. Football a team game. Just subscribed look forward to more like this great channel.

Why is everybody acting like this is the end? I’m not even a major Barca fan (BHAFC for life) but I respect them. They will be fine in the mid to long term. They have such vast money and influence that they will be perfectly fine. The academy will become better and produce better players again. It’s a cycle with football, you have a few years off, you have a few years at the top. Even the big clubs can’t win everything. No idea how Valverde is still there tho. That confuses me

Barcelona has wonderful players in La Masia that deserve playing time. One of them is Riqui Puig, who has the potential to become a world-class midfielder. Carles Alena also has that potential. And I do understand the need to win, as a fan, I hate it when we lose. But it is also important to focus on building for the future and signing players from abroad all the time is not the answer. We are lucky Ansu came out of nowhere, hopefully, they'll keep giving him the chances he deserves.
@ayreonate5 жыл бұрын
Thiago and Grimaldo and Denis Suarez already left, Roberto and Alena and Sergi Samper are criminally under used inspite of their huge potential . barca buying Dembele for 120M and he is either injured or not played at all because he is a bad fit tactically. same as Vidal, Paulinho, Coutinho, Griezman, Turan, Malcom , Andre Gomez, Paco Alcacer, Vermaelen and the list goes on. basically the the board is throwing ideas on the wall and seeing what sticks. and thinking that money solves everything. its just like Real Madrid's Galacticos and PSG. while clubs like Ajax and Dortmund crush the champions league with their academy graduates.
@gaoru5 жыл бұрын
The thing about clubs like Ajax and Dortmund is that they're not very consistent. Ajax is practically playing UCL every year since the 2000s and last year was the only time they got that far. They get eliminated from the group stage most of the time in the last 20 years. They have a very "romantic and idealistic" footballing system where if everything goes right it's the most beautiful form of football. However, that does not happen too often in modern football. It's been proven time and time again that you have to spend a lot to build a consistent and competitive squad.
@ayreonate5 жыл бұрын
@@gaoru Guardiola's Barca is probably the most consistent team in football history and its not just about what they won its that they won using the system that they developed for years and revolutionized tactics in a way that made them basically unplayable. the important thing that they proved it can be done. I agree that their golden generation is very hard to replicate consistently but what is happening now is the complete opposite of what made the club great. Im barca fan and I would'nt mind a transition period every a couple of seasons to refresh the squad and not be as dominant as long as they stay true to their philosophy (promote from within, possession based tactics etc.) but my problem is that they have made an 180 turn and still are under achieving. I loved the MSN era aswell tbh but it was the start of this downfall.

Whilst Barcelona may well have run La Masia with the notable lack of sanity common to pretty much every football club, how likely do people really think it is that, even with a more rational set-up, they would have produced another trio like Xavi, Messi and Iniesta? No matter how good your system, the stars just don't align like that very often.

People underestimate the psychological factors of a young guy - and even an adult - taking big steps in their carreer. Language change, lack of friends, increasingly playing against bigger and bigger guys. The pressure they feel changes everything, from the weight of the ball to the speed and strenght of the tackles. And when they don't feel it, it changes for the best. More than working out the skills and mindset, academies need to work out how and WHEN they will put a player into the field of every step taken - from the u12 to the u15, then to the u17, then to the u20 and then to the 2nd team, to a loan and so on - to feel fine no matter what happens... To feel their football will show off, to feel that fluctuations are normal and will soon stabilize. In Brazil this is a bigger problem than anywhere else, i can assure you all. Almost every team has a "next Ronaldo, Neymar, Kaka" etc., and they are all result based because they are all in debt and in need of sponsors. There's almost no planning. Few have overcame this and sometimes when they did, the next president was there just for the corruption and broke this so needed cycle. A perfect example of this was Lulinha from Corinthians youth academy. He had between 3 to 4 times more goals on the youth teams compared to Romario (only guy to have scored more than 1000 goals that played in this century), who was the previous record holder until he obliterated his mark. To make this a little more ridiculous, he wasn't even a striker, but a playmaker!! Lulinha's professional debut was at 17 y.o., which is totally ok for today's standards BUT, it was in the end of a season where this 35 million fans team based on Sao Paulo, very violent city, went to national's 2nd division for the first time ever, in a moment of immense pressure. He never had a good season at all. Now one can tell that this pressure is part of football and of course it is, but i do believe that its manageable and that its the club's duty (not only interest) to make it. You don't send a soldier to the most terrifying field of the war without making him properly used to easier fields.
