The deal not only broke the transfer window but broke Barcelona completely. Neymar's transfers to PSG changed how world class players and average players are valued forever and at the same time exposed how poorly Barcelona were ran under Bartomeu.
@-Big_Mo-
@-Big_Mo- Жыл бұрын
Thing is, Barca wasn't terribly run before Neymar so I don't they were "exposed" per se. Rakitic, Umtiti, and Suarez were obviously excellent signings that other clubs would be jealous of. I think Neymar just ended up destroying years of planning so they panicked trying to come up with a new direction. So not only did they need to adjust to the broken transfer market, they had to replace an area of the pitch they thought would be stable for at least a few years. That also took attention away from finding successors for players like Iniesta, Pique, Busquets, and Messi. The Coutinho obsession was also bad though

I feel like the person who wrote this script, or at least the part about Paulinho, didn't actually watch him play for Barça in the one season he was there. Because in this video he is almost not talked about and what is said about him kind of paints him like a disappointment when in fact he wasn't. Paulinho was a positive surprise. He did very well in the role he was assigend to, including scoring some important goals and he generally played far better for Barça than he did for Spurs. On top of that he was even sold for a profit (as mentioned in the video). So he definitely wasn't a disappointment or failure in his time at Barça.

I feel like Bartomeu should have issued the opposite statement to what he did : "We are delighted with the sale of Neymar, it guarantees the future of this grand club for another few decades on its own and we shall invest this in getting back to our roots at the academy" kind of thing. Even Barca fans likely would have understand that PSG were paying over the odds for the transfer and there was no reason to make the same mistake themselves. Shame we lost Neymar regardless of what people say. During the time Messi got injured, both him & Luis Suarez stepped up and still gave us hope of having a team that could win UCL w/o having to be to reliant on Messi. That’s one of the problems Barca has had the best past decade being to reliant on one player & I remember Ney carry us in the league competing against Real Madrid. Now we’re leading the league but we don’t have a team capable of winning UCL even if Messi came back. We need to wait a season or two since most of our current players are still young & inexperienced to compete against teams like Bayern & City.

Dribbling, shooting, passing, link up play central, on the wing. Dembele is super overrated even the past year being his best year. That’s why no accepted the salary he wanted & had to accept a lower salary than initially offered. Let’s be real, yes Barca are first place currently but not because we have this amazing squad that can compete w/ the big boys, simply Tebas has weakened the league & that’s why we have no one in UCL other than Real Madrid. 3rd / 4th place teams are closer to relegation zone than 1st place. The same happens whenever a big player goes, see Hazard, Bale, Grealish etc. (for prem examples) If you get big money for an irreplaceable attacking threat you either throw it all at big names and overpay, or you invest it across a range of players and hope for some success. There's a very good chance you won't come out of it better though. If they're a lightning in a bottle player then for any success stories, they tend to come years later,

Neymar's signing is the reason the transfer market is the way it is today, clubs now sell their marquee or very good players for exorbitant amounts, and average players for what used to be considered marquee level amounts... The funny thing is everyone knew the sale will break the order of the transfer market, i remember me and my friends back in Uni. days having the discussion on "how will clubs react to selling their players from now on".

Eventually even without Neymar transfer to PSG, the transfer value will be inflated no matter what because this thing is not new In 2000, luis Figo transfer to Juventus worth 60m. In 2009, Ronaldo move to real Madrid worth 100m, sure there are no other 200m yet but it will potentially happening with the likes of haaland and Mbappe(if he not leave for free)

@TifoFootball - With the recent flurry of minutes and a few recent goals, could you do a video on Alexander Isak and what he brings to NUFC's playstyle in comparison to Wilson, in an attempt to answer the questions: Is Isak the future of the NUFC frontline. Are NUFC a better team with him? Is there a certain opposition type where one should play over the other? Can they play together effectively? Aside from goals, what do each bring? Is Isak less effective, as effective or more effective at applying pressure to the opposition?

More or less what happened when Real Madrid bought Figo for a then record sum of 60M. Barcelona was hurt and desperate, and everybody knew they had a lot of money: they bought Overmars, Petit, Gerard and Alfonso, wasting even more money than they got on players who were a disaster. They did not learn from their mistakes

The same thing happened when Inter paid Ronaldo's release clause. They turned around and gave Deportivo the money in anger for a player with much less market value. It ended up being Ballon d'Or winner Rivaldo, but still, they spent more money than they needed to just because they were upset.

Neymar exposed Barcelona when he left. Barca always claimed to be “more than a club” and boasted about valuing their academy players. Yet instead of investing their money into Barcelona future and academy.. they blew every dime on any big name signing they could get. All while selling off their academy players for pennies. Barca fans blame it on the Bartmoeu; however, they celebrated every new signing and claimed they would win the UCL. All the spending ultimately blew up in Barcelona’s face. They dug themselves into such a hole that they could no longer afford to keep Lionel Messi (their prized possession). They were left with no money whatsoever. They couldn’t afford to sign anybody so they went back to using their academy players for a single season. It was actually nice to see. Until the season ended… when they ultimately sold half of their clubs rights away to sign another haul of big names to replace their academy players. A big gamble for a club with already no money. A gamble that would see them exit the UCL two years in a row at the group stage. Leading them to crash out the Europa League back to back seasons. An absolute joke of a club. They fell apart when Neymar left. Meanwhile Neymar would lead PSG to its first ever UCL final. Something never seen before.

The really impressive part of this, is in a video specifically made to criticise Barca's reckless spending after Neymars sale for various reasons when realistically they would have been better off just not spending on a massive replacement, Everton still come out looking like the worse negotiators for paying 30 million for a man who cost 12m 6 months ago and played 400 minutes.

Paulinho scored some good goals, yes. He also had a good chemistry on pitch with Messi and got into dangerous areas quite often. But he was terrible at the thing all barca midflelders NEED to excel in: passing. I remember him failing to make a 5 yard pass with minimal pressure multiple times. If you're a barca midfielder and can't pass the ball and escape the press, let alone have good vision, you know you're not there to stay. However, he did add a different dimension to the game (like Vidal did a season later) for which he could've been kept around as a squad rotation player.
