@Gary Huston another interesting vid - thanks !! Quick unrelated question if I may ? - any ideas of a metal supplier local to High Wycombe where I could get a solid mild steel sphere of approx 80mm diameter ? ( for me to use as a former ) Searched online and any that I find all seem to be way up North . Any help/advice would be much appreciated , cheers !

SoraTorus FH Brundle, they are in London but deliver quite cheaply, I use them all the time.

I was getting ready to type "Use your drill..." and then you did. Then I was getting ready to say "turn it end for end..." and then you did that. But you forgot "Bob's your uncle."

Is this just a electrocoated diamond cutting disc? For stone and ceramics?

Get your acetylene torch out to sharpen tungsten, it’s amazing and you’ll probably never go back to abrasive wheels.

I have no idea how that works but I don’t have acetylene so it makes no difference!

How long do tips last in a TIG? What does the tip actually do? I’ve only used MiG welders and a bit Stick welding.
@bc659255 жыл бұрын
They last quite a while till you get a little to close to the work, then they look like his close up. The tungsten tip transfers the arc to the work. And like with stick welding there has to be a small gap.
@Shadeskast5 жыл бұрын
Well that was well put. Even a goof like me understood that Lol. Is TIG welding just the evolution of the trade? Why would someone use it ? Is it better than good old stick or MiG ?

Shadeskast Circle K Farrier Outdoors You can do far more “finer” work and very neatly with a bit of practice. It’s almost like soldering where you melt the metal and add filler rod to join the metal pieces. It’s actually much easier to TIG weld than to Stick weld, well at least I think so.

Thanks Brett!! I need practice for sure

You can't do that :-D Its amazing the things we can get away with when we're "unsupervised" I've got to make an effort to get into TIG. So many things I think I could do with it than I can't do with MIG like tacking up bits of bronze.

I didn’t think I would use it much but I find myself using it more and more! I even did some lead burning with it the other day!
