You are a practical expert. I have been watching your video's for many years and have learned many things. I routinely need to TIG non-typical things, your vast knowledge helps to point out areas of concern and best practice. Thank you!

Having the dialogue and your opinions and observations are worth their weight in gold. They will also pay for themselves in the lack of scrapped parts and failed projects. Having been a fabricator for years, it's that understanding and info that makes the difference between success and failure.

Ive found that if you have a deep pinhole like you have there a pencil grinder with a carbide round burr works really well to locally remove the pinhole and whatever crap is inside it. Then it rewelds with no porosity afterwards.

What's good Allen? 2 things about welding that i didn't learn in vocational school that I'm curious about. 1. Welding with an aluminum spool gun and 2. Welding or brazing with silicon bronze. Could you educate me on both? Thanks💪🏆

If you can mig you can spool gun, as far as settings I cheated and got a welder smarter then me so I just tell what material and how thick and it figures the rest out lol

Have you thought about using soap stone or chalk on the file. It should blow right off and not hurt anything
@minigpracing3068

Dumb question, do you have different files that are dedicated to aluminum, steel, stainless, etc.? I'm guessing at least files for aluminum and for steel to prevent contamination.

Any chance you have or would do a welding course based around the older synchro wave machines? I’ve got an old 300 without any of the bells and whistles other than balance adjust. Just curious to see if you could replicate the frequency and such and how you’d do it.

Talking about why you do what you do is good. There has to be a "why." Any pro fabricator's decisions are not random. Experience counts.

If you coat the file with chalk, the aluminum will no longer adhere to the file.🤓 I don't know whether this influences your welding process Have fun Grüße aus Dakar 🇸🇳

I am curious about your thoughts on using aluminum brightener on older aluminum to clean it before welding. Of course I always use acetone last before welding but I have had some luck with aluminum brightener on old nasty aluminum to make it weldable.
