Good job Travis! Once you learn how to feed through the gap ( and knowing where your stick out is with seeing your hands) there really is no better way of doing it. I was shown how to do this years ago( BM Tig hand, 25 years) and I've shown this technique to many aspiring Tig welders with the same expectations that Mike had on you, it prepares hands for return bends or prepares them to accept that not every Tig hand has this skill.

Great to see different techniques working well. It's certainly a good thing to know as many different ways as possible of getting the job done effectively. Very good commentary too, and nice to hear him being so grateful to his instructor. The split screen was really helpful too. Top video 👍

Top welder right there! Im a welder in the norwegian oil industry, and i have a difficult time discussing wire diameter with the inspectors/welding engineers. we are forced to use a 2mm(5/64 in ur stupid measures) wire for the root pass on literally everything, from sch10-sch160 etc. wall thinckness doesnt matter... this obviously increases the chanse of "stickthrough" and lack of reinforcement (negative root). atleast i use this in my arguments. the question is: do you have any more arguments for me? @WeldTube thanks in advance. by the way, theres few welders and inspectors who are familiar with any bigger rods that 2,4mm(3/32) here in Norway. understand what im dealing with here, lol.

If you can’t see the tungsten, try using a darker shade filter lens. You should be able to see it, or this method won’t work for you. He should have also mentioned to use the maximum allowed bevel angle when cutting your pipes. That will help open it up to keep your tungsten a little bit further away.
