I bought stock birds yesterday Male black pied Male blue bar Female blue bar with two white stripes on each eye Female white with faint brown dots around neck It’s stock parents are classic grizzle and brown checker I just can’t wait to breed these birds

Adam - Being somewhat new to your channel, would you mind giving us some information on how you came to know so much about pigeon genetics in regards to their colors because your knowledge is very impressive!

Thanks! I've had pigeons since I was a child, my grandfather got me interested in them. When I was a teenager I started reading about genetics and networking with other breeders who are interested in genetics, their knowledge helped me. So my knowledge is the culmination of years and years of research and pigeon experience. I enjoy sharing it with others too. 👍

@@yeehaa3181 Nah, I'm more of a obsessive "self taught" nerd when it comes to pigeons. My knowledge is more on the practical hobbyist side of things, rather then the molecular biology side that the cutting edge universities and scientist are doing nowadays. I'm happy to be helping backyard breeders though.

I didn't find any barless pigeon near me so is there any else possibility by breeding t check or bar or .....?To get barless. I love the lavender color or silver color can u please guide me what color to breed ? To get the result? Sorry but I am a starter.

Sure, what do you think would make the videos easier to understand? Unfortunately you cannot breed a barless unless you can find a bird carrying the gene, I'm sorry. Lavender/silver, you can use colours like ash red spread or milky, which might not be hard to find depending on your location.

Thanks, im glad you enjoy it. It is best to not cross tigers into classic or white grizzles if your aim is to produce more tigers. Crossing like that just makes it harder to breed a nice clean tiger. Breeders are free to do whatever breeding method they like with their birds though 🙂

Some of it is pied, some of it is another gene that interacts with recessive red and causes the feathers to moult in as white rather than coloured.

Thanks :-) As you might have gathered, I'm here for entertainment which is interesting and informative - informal study for study's sake. Saw your comment below about pairing a cock to its mother. I've noticed many bird breeders are dead set against this. I've spent years in an entirely different (animal) fancy, where it is acceptable. Would you consider doing a video on the benefits of line breeding, and the cons of outcrossing? It's a massive topic I know, but it might help some to know when line breeding can help. Oh and maybe one on lethal genes too.

Yea sure, I can try to touch on it. And yes, lethal genes are already on the (long 😅) list of video ideas. I'm still getting used to the idea of being an "entertainer", especially with how much the channel has grown during the quarantine period. Hopefully I can get more used to it and keep making my own brand of "pigeon info-tainment" that people enjoy watching!

On KZbin I often see people just blurting out what they know, repeating things because they've not prepared - your recaps are a different thing and very helpful. I work in the corporate world. Typically, presenters put up a visual with too much info and "drain the slide". You use them to summarise. The subtle music you use eases things along too.
