Tiger Leaping Gorge is a scenic canyon on the Jinsha River, a primary tributary of the upper Yangtze River. It is located 60 kilometers (37 mi) north of Lijiang City, Yunnan in southwestern China. It is part of the Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas World Heritage Site.
Legend says the name comes from a hunted tiger escaping by jumping across the river at the narrowest point (still 25 meters (82 ft) wide), using the rock in the middle.
At a maximum depth of approximately 3,790 meters (12,434 feet) from river to mountain peak, Tiger Leaping Gorge is one of the deepest and most spectacular river canyons in the world.The inhabitants of the gorge are primarily the indigenous Nakhi people, who live in a handful of small hamlets. Their primary subsistence comes from grain production and nowadays hiking tourism.

La nature a créé des paysages magnifiques. Des hommes y ont tracé des passages, puis des chemins. D’autres les ont transformés en routes. Et, aujourd’hui, d’autres hommes se battent quotidiennement pour maintenir ces routes dans le meilleur état possibles. 可能有一点挫折。首先外国人要在中国自驾需要重新接受驾照考试并获得资格，当然如果你已经有驾照会很容易。然后，你不能一个人自驾西藏，有两个原因，新手在高原自驾很容易因为错误判断和操作危及生命，以及有可能误闯军事基地，但是你可以请导演陪你一同自驾游西藏。最后也是最重要的一点，中国很大，你要根据你想自驾的路线规划好你的时间，144小时的签证显然是远远不够的
