Another awesome creation! Also, I thought you looked familiar when I came across your channel. I bought a g0771z table saw last year and spent a while researching, and watching your video was one of many steps.

Ah yes, my other life at Grizzly Industrial has some definite crossover in my favorite hobbies outside of work! Glad the table saw video could be of help. I'm extremely lucky to get to work with awesome machinery day-in and day-out--it's quite literally my dream jib for sure. Thanks for watching!

Man I cant believe I haven't seen this before. This is right up my alley! How do you like using the hard coat? Is it a lot more durable than joint compound? More durable than bondo? I definitely want to try using it sometime.
@RiverbendWoodworks4 жыл бұрын
The Roscos foam coat is incredible. I think it is very fire resistant, can be easily sanded, and is really, really tough. I totally recommend trying it out. It's kinda pricey, and I believe it has a shelf life to it in the tub it comes in, but it's awesome stuff.

Again, great work, lookin good! One of the problems with Bondo is it gets fairly warm when curing (which you already found out haha). Looking forward to part 3

Yeah, that was a bit of a surprise! Looked like something out of the movie Aliens! Luckily, sheetrock mud fixes all

Wondered how you were going to avoid the styrene vs styrofoam issue. Thought you had it figured out with the hard coat lol.

I sure didn't expect Bondo to eat it up like that! I learned a while back about aerosol stuff with the foam, but the Bondo was a surprise. Lucky for me it didn't eat away at it like acid and I was able to fix it. Thanks for watching!

So you brush on the Rosco Foam Coat first, then sand when dry. Then dilute the Rosco in your sprayer for the final coat? What ratio do you use? It looks great! I tried the Hot Wire Foam Factory Foam Coat, but found it too cement like and not smooth...
@RiverbendWoodworks3 жыл бұрын
I did brush on the first coat pretty thick to help with gap filling and it sanded up beautifully. I used something like a 60 or 80 grit sandpaper on my orbital sander and it took care of it quick. The next few coats were a 50/50 water-foamcoat mix and diluted even further, I believe so I could spray it from the texturing gun. Again, I quickly sanded between the next two coatings and lightly after the final coating.

How much foam coat to do the shark? And roughly how much is the cost to do the shark?
@RiverbendWoodworks2 жыл бұрын
For this one it ended up being one and a half of the Roscoes tubs worth. I watered it down quite a bit so it would get a good, consistent spray as well, so I got more mileage out of each bucket. Just took a few extra coats I think. The result was a smoother finish though.

Hi , were do you buy that hard coat material from , what's its name ?
@RiverbendWoodworks11 ай бұрын
It’s called Roscoe’s Foam Coat and there’s actually quite a few places to get it online. I picked mine up from a Seattle-based theatre supply source. Here’s the website for Roscoe’s: us.rosco.com/en/product/foamcoat

Hi Antero, the coating is called Rosco Foam Coat. It's often used for stage props and is pretty awesome to work with. If you just Google that you'll get a few buying options. Highly recommend it.
