"If I have to beat somebody off...it's instinct" Man language in the 70s really changes in context applied 50 years later.

Scary thing is that Williams was actually a decent player

Not really. His real legacy was the penalty records. But he was entertaining as hell! I saw him climb into the stands once to attack a heckling fan! He also delayed a game by 30 min because he slammed the penalty box door so hard that it broke the glass.

True he even managed to get 35 goals in a season with Vancouver

He sometimes played on lines with great players like Darryl Sittler to help protect them. I'm not taking away from Tiger Williams skills, but if you play on a line with great players, you're gonna get some points. Tie Domi occasionally played on the same line as Mats Sundin and managed to get some good opportunities. Same as Probert when he played on a line with Yzerman.

Once after a game the reporter asked what he's going to do next. At that time the NFL players were on strike but Tiger replied "I'm not sure, maybe I'll go down to California and take in a couple scab football games" Lol

I get a kick out of williams talking about hitting howe and having some young guy of the bench going after him.....Howe did not need any help and would have made short work of williams.....end of story

Doubt that, Tiger was an animal in his prime, Howe, ( as awesome as he was), was in the twilight of his career.

Howe rarely fought after his rookie and sophomore season. It was a waste of time for him for the most part. He'd get you back later with an elbow or some crafty stick work, when you least suspected it.

When Tiger and Gordie Howe were team mates in Hartford ,they lived in the same neighborhood and Tiger would pick up Gordie and they would drive in together to work.

Howe's elbows were notorious and he had to fight now and then but not like Tiger.
