Tiger Woods wins 2000 Memorial Tournament | Chasing 82

Rounds of 63 and 65 on Friday and Saturday at Muirfield Village Golf Club provided Tiger Woods a 6-shot lead heading into the final round. Woods prevailed for a 5-shot win over Ernie Els and Justin Leonard.
Tiger Woods' chase for Sam Snead's record of 82 PGA TOUR wins began at the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational, his first TOUR win in just his fifth professional start. Over 20 years later Woods' excellence has seen him raise a trophy in six countries and 16 different American states.

this was his 4th victory of the season (of 9). his next win would be the us open, winning by 15. then he’d go on to win the open by eleven, also giving him the career grand slam. he’d next win his third straight major at the pga, including that thrilling playoff where he runs his putt in on the first playoff hole. his last two wins would be the wgc at bridgestone (the one where he stuffs it on the 72nd in the dark) and finishes with a win at the bell canadian (the one where he hits from fairway bunker 216 yards over water just past the green to win). what a year.
