I relate heavily to Steve... I’ve only ever fallen truly in love once, we spent tons of time together, talking late into the night, going to concerts, I was always so conscious about not doing anything rash, never pressuring her, never even touching her, not unless she initiated with me... we were friends for years, and then I popped the question, and I figured out I was delusional. She didn’t feel that way about me at all. I was rejected... hard. I think about her every day. I’ve tried to convince myself that I’m interested in other women, but there’s no one else like her in the world. We still talk from time to time, and I’m just confused about my place. The other women I’ve spoken to, the friendships have never become anything more, and we still talk too. They’re not interested in me, I’m stung up on threads, never able to move on. It’s a damn mess, and no one sees it because they’ve all moved on.

I had written off relationships, but once I gained some stable footing financially, made my health a priority, and prayed hard, I went through withdrawal, and n the other side I was someone else, someone better. One of my friends relationships had just imploded, and I was there consoling him, and he asked me why he never saw me with anyone, and I explained my apprehension. He gave me the push I needed, and I met a wonderful sweet woman on Hinge, God fearing, supportive and patient. I’ve been struggling through a relapse, and she’s been with me every step of the way. Don’t give up. Don’t let the dark thoughts win.
