Tiger Rogers work is incredible! I've never enjoyed the Rolling Stones so much until Tiger has worked stereo magic on these tracks. Abkco would do well by hiring him! This is the best version of Jumping Jack Flash ever! The other mixes don't come close to your work, Tiger. I should know since I have every mix of J J Flash ever released. Not only is the mix incredible, but there's no more tape wobble! Amazing! Abkco or the Stones could have fixed that wobble problem? Wonderful stuff. I'm trying to figure out how spectralayers works. I suspect it performs multiple passes of the song to figure out which frequencies add up to the respective instruments. Tiger, if you could please describe in a few words how it works that would be great. My suggestion for your next song: She Loves You by The Beatles, the Holy Grail of mono-to-stereo. Leader of the Pack by the Shangri-Las would be nice also.
@TigerRogers06602 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! I use DeMix Pro for the auto separations (Vocals, Drums, Bass), then Spectralayers for all the manual editing. Normally guitars, piano, brass, etc all have to be done by hand by looking at the Spectral Editor, working out what shapes are what instruments, & pulling it apart manually. It can be a painstaking process. I don't use Spectralayers for the auto separations. But these programs are trained to identify mainly drums, vocals & bass. There is no program out there that is any good for auto seps. of guitars, piano etc. I have done "She Loves You" in 2020, but can't post as it would be immediately blocked. Tiger.

It sounds like Brian on the upper register bit, when it says “it’s all right now.. but when they played it live Brian is not playing this, more just mirroring Keith with the riff, the basic chords etc. It would be great if someone asked the band while they still can who actually played what. He could have played that upper register part and just not used it live, who knows. For instance they just dropped playing the intro because they didn’t want to play it.

@williardbillmore57132 жыл бұрын
Bill Wyman claims he came up with something, but Keith and Mick wrote the song in an all night session at Keith's estate without Wyman present. Jumpin Jack was Keith's gardener, Jack Dyer. Mick heard him going about his morning chores outside the window and asked who's that? Keith responded " Oh that's just my gardener Jumpin Jack" (a nickname Keith had given him). Mick came back with "Jumpin Jack Flash" and the song was born. I find it hard to believe that they wrote the complete song that morning and didn't have the iconic riff that repeats throughout the entire song. If you listen to it back to back with the riff from Satisfaction it quickly becomes evident that they are almost the same musical phrase... JJF is just the Satisfaction riff played sort of inside out and in a major key. They both have very similar rhythm structures. Now every Stones fan knows that Keith wrote Satisfaction alone in his sleep into a portable cassette machine and found it on the tape the next morning. The JJF riff has Keith's signature all over it. Bill likes to say lots of things, like that Brian Jones wrote Ruby Tuesday too... We all know that that is absolutely impossible.
