Heard you guys on the college radio station in rapid city. Went home to california and fell for a girl who adores you guys and even resembles Brianna. It added a deeper meaning to your music. Deeper in a way I've never felt before. You and her were the trigger to me pursuing writing and singing, and I would be content if I wrote a song remotely as powerful as this one. Nah, if anything that section is references alcohol (liquid courage) but just as a coping mechanism. The song is about trying to escape problems/emotions but ultimately failing. Also "breathing in slow, breathing out and letting go" could be smoking or just a breathing technique to try to calm down or grapple with the emotions/problems
