I really love how new VA adding "heh" everywhere! In burst, and in his voice lines... Also 2 out of 3 burst lines are more emotional now! He did a great job. Some players just need more time to adjust

I think the new VA can be quite promising: remember that Genshin sometimes has their VA’s re-record their lines after initial release (like Ayato’s “About Itto” voice line which got replaced nearly a year later, Barbara as a whole, Diona in her Hangout originally featuring Xiangling’s VA for almost a year before Diona’s own VA redid them etc, there’s more but these are the significant ones ), and given the unique circumstances surrounding Tighnari, there’s no doubt that the new VA had to rush through all these lines in time for the update and therefore probably had less time than a VA typically would to familiarise themselves with the character. So while these samples might seem a bit off right now and inconsistent with the voice direction, there’s a chance they’ll eventually be replaced with more polished recordings and overall better performances overtime as the VA gets used to this role naturally instead of the rushed work they had to do on such short notice. I won’t be surprised if the lines we have now are in fact placeholders just so we have something for actor consistency. Zachary is no newbie to the VA scene, and I believe he can do Tighnari justice with the proper voice direction.

@@yunamoonlight1015 Not all of his lines are flat, for example I think this Line, "I'll uproot you!" 0:56, is much more lively then the original and has that sense of impact that a Burst line should have. With the "I'll uproot you!" line it's the exact opposite and I personally feel that the original seems flat to me, so I much perfer that new one. If optimizations occur to bring all of them up to par I feel this new VA will surpass the original.

Yeah, I think most fans don't consider just how short notice and rushed this recasting and rerecording was. It's great that Hoyo reacted this fast and the faster the old VA can be replaced the better, but that doesn't change that with this little time to work with, of course the performance will suffer. Voice acting isn't just reading a script once and be done. It's the director and VA working out over a long process just how exactly they want the character to sound (VAs don't choose that. The director does) And then it's recording every voice line and even every little sigh/grunt literally DOZENS of times. There's no way Gordon had any time to do that. I think it's even possible that for "one time" lines (like story and archon quest) they only took a single take and moved on. In comparison the skill/burst etc. lines imo sound much better, and those were most likely the ones they focused on and actually took many takes until they were satisfied with it.

Am I the only one who thinks the new VA is way better? He adds so much more emotion to the lines. The old one sounds so dead and boring to me… the new one has the Tighnari sass we all know and love, and the VA adds a nerdy touch to his voice which I think fits very well for Tighnari’s character Edit: Valid points on both sides! Looking back, I still think the new VA is better, but I can definitely see why a lot of people prefer the old one

It's interesting how the intonation and inflection completely changes the implied attitude of the lines. When it Snows line: Old: In awe and distracted by the weather almost talking to himself. Gentle surprise. Kind offer. New: Excitedly talking to traveler about weather. Confused surprise. Matter of fact offer. In general the new voice sounds a lot more peppy, matter of fact and lacks the same sass that the old voice had. I imagine they might do a re-record over time. But I do enjoy the new idle, feels a bit more lively.

More than a year later and i can confidently say Zach did an amazing job. Sure, VA changes can be jaring when you are uaed to something, but thats why you need fo give it some fime before you comment on it. So I know some information of situation with old VA and why his changed. But I really like more old voice of Tighnari than new. Old voice is really calm, relaxing and suitable for the atmosphere of the character.

Old voice sounded like he was on the verge of tears half the time, he just sounded so dead and monotone. The new VA did SO MUCH better, giving life to tighnari, his battle voice lines sound more alive and aggressive, and sassy at the same time. Zachary perfected the voice, giving him a nerdy, but sassy sort of character. His new voice 100% suits him way more

I miss the old Va he sounded like a young adult and a intellectual. New one sounds like a child it’s odd and off putting. It made me like his character less and completely changes him as a character and his personality . It’s just way different. Old Voice is much better. You can think anything about actor, but his Tighnari sounds original and “clean”. The new one is trying to grimaces like Mika and it sounds disgusting. If not for the scandals, I’m sure no one would have supported the new actor

Old VA: unique, interesting, dry, sarcastic, smooth, grown-up. New VA: pitchy, samey, too young, whiney, immature. They should have chosen more carefully. MHY were too hasty and wanted a quick fix.

At first I didn't like what I heard of the new VA. It just sounded so different. The reason I fell in love with Tighnari in the first place was because of his voice. It had such a pleasant tone. I loved it. I loved the sass, but also the gentle mentoring. But of course the old VA HAD to go. No questions asked. I remember Cyyu saying fans should give it some time to get used to it, because it's only natural for it to feel off after such a change. He was quite right. Now I actually quite like the new VA. The tone isn't as pleasant to me, but the performance grew on me. I really like the nerdy part. He gets sooo excited when being in a situation he can absorb himself into. Yeah. It was a really really good change and I still love Tighnari ^^

man, still sucks to this day. his old voice helped a lot in making me like his character. i keep thinking how i could never get tired of listening to him. it's so distinct and it just sounds like how someone like tighnari will sound like. no hate to the new va, but hearing his voice just felt like he sounds like a typical anime boy. he kinda lost that charm of having such distinct soothing and sassy voice.
