Tigran V. Petrosian has been reincarnated (in a sense) in the super-chess-engine Lc0, which has a unique style that it has developed through its iterative self-learning algorithm. It uses posted knights to achieve positional mastery, sacrificing a pawn or the exchange in order to establish its post.

He was simply unstoppable; After him, all the blitz games, all the Olympics and double championships remained. Only the Politburo stopped him and forced him to resign in 1969. Therefore, Petrosyan never fully revealed his talent.

Troianescu-Petrosian 1953: Before Grandmaster Williams shows any games, he should first analyse them properly himself and not rely on old sources! Today we have engines available, so he should at least take a cursory look. In fact, at time 3.39 of the video, Petrosian's second quality sacrifice 35...Rc3?? is a gross error due to the nice countercombination 36.a5!! The (general) idea of a second quality sacrifice is correct in itself, but at a particular moment it led to (almost) even chances. So, instead of clenching your fist, please, Mr Williams, work harder and don't mislead the audience.

Simon, I’m shocked Game 10 from ‘66 World Championship vs Spassky didn’t make the top #5! Double exchange sac for diagonal control, plus the iconic Qh8+ at the end to go from material-down to material-up. Shocked, I say. It’s ok, I still like you 😊
