Was just watching your previous video and read the comment from someone asking for a good game from the black side for the French. And here we go, thanks Jerry :)

Love seeing games from the eras before computers on the channel! It's so fascinating to see games from the great trailblazers of the 19th and 20th centuries thanks Jerry

I love this. The analysis of some of the fine details shows the big picture: Petrosian methodically surrounding and smothering his opponent (with some degree of brutality...). Beautiful finish. Your game reviews are the only ones I know to really tell an entertaining story and not drown me in engine lines. Thanks for the top quality content.

Great analysis. Great coverage of that game. Thank you for going over it. I enjoyed it very much.

Amazing. I have to admit that I used to think Petrosian was a boring player. I've always gravitated to the flashy players like tal, Naka, polgar etc. This video shattered my preconceived notions. Strategic AND tactical monster!!!

The poisonous Petrosian, is like a stunt driver, so good in reverse. Thanks Jerry.
@TheVoicefrombelow4 ай бұрын
I was initially puzzled about 14...a6, but after the exchange sacrifice it becomes clear. Petrosian was anticipating the exchange sacrifice so that he can establish a pawn on f3, creating pressure on g2, and wanted the light square bishop to commit away from the f1-a6 diagonal. Brilliant!

Pretrosian’s moves sometimes look like a bulldrozer but they are so subtle and brilliant.

I use French as a comfort opening in bullet so as to not blunder like in say e4 e5 d4 Nc6. Thanks for showing such a good game from one of the best users of the opening

Hey Jerry! Thank you for your work! Can anybody explain to me why white doesn't capture Qxf3 on move 19 and a bit later on as well? This pawn looks like a thorn in white's position.
@ChessNetwork4 ай бұрын
The light squared bishop would become an even greater threat. Qxf3 could be met with Nh4 for instance and d4 to follow. Good luck to white defending the light squares that the black minor pieces intersect on.
@eugene_mikheev4 ай бұрын
@@ChessNetworkThanks, that makes sense. I just thought that white could try to keep the center closed and the white-squared bishop's sight obstructed.

At 4:11 what do yoy think about Nh6? If he eat the knight, you have a strong rook on the semi-open file pointing at the enemy's castle. If he doesn't eat, moving the knight in f5 could be interesting

I thought the rook sacrifice to be a blunder but it all worked. What a vicious attack over multiple turns. Hall of Fame game
