Yes, this! On another note, I hate when people say "Oh, just use this little serum, it'll get rid of your dark circles." No, it won't. I've had my circles since I was a child, and no amount of specialty product is going to get rid of a genetic "flaw." Sorry to rant, but yeah, too many people pretend to understand the struggle. Not trying to gatekeep or say they don't have some undereye darkness, but it's definitely not as bad as they make it out to be. We are all our own worst critic.

Powdering lipstick through/over a tissue is a classic "hack" that I learned at least seven years ago, haha. Sometimes, it seems like most of the "discoveries" and tips that go viral on TikTok are just teenagers finding out about things that those of us born before the year 2000 already knew.
@reannandonofrio88163 жыл бұрын

I mean 30 years ago we were dabbing with tissue, then applying a light dusting of (very problematic flash back!) powder on top, to make a lipstick matte and last longer. It worked really well. Dont think we were the first generation to do that either. Its funny though how long it took for the makeup industry to realise that people want matte lipsticks too. Regarding the powder I remember a partner taking what we thought were beautiful sweet pictures, only to get a helluva shock when we got them back after they were developed and I looked like a ghost gone wrong with all the horrid flashback! 🤣🤣🤣 Oh the days of flash back and nothing you could do about it 😆😆😆

I was really surprised about the lipstick on tissue one - it looks like it would be a waste of product, but it does look like it gives a nice effect.
@nicolecheyenne79373 жыл бұрын
I really thought he would point out how wasteful that hack was especially since you could get the same effect by patting a small amount of lipstick on the inner portion of the lips then touch up the outer portion with concealer and then if the lipstick wasn't matte and that's what you wanted, you could do the tissue trick with powder.
@ToxicNeon3 жыл бұрын
@@nicolecheyenne7937 i do think there is a difference in effect - but i'd have to experiment with it first before saying anymore. I've done as you mentioned, but it looks a bit different how robert did it, so i was thinking of trying it, although with less product than the girl used in her video. I do still think she used too much.
@nicolecheyenne79373 жыл бұрын
@@ToxicNeon I don't know. I watched the video again and tried it exactly as she did and I just think its way easier to concentrate most of the color in the center then just lightly blend out with your finger. For the same effect as the girl in the video I found I didn't even need concealer. It was really fun to experiment with it though.
@jeanetteprice62773 жыл бұрын

The tissue hack/tip I first learned from watching another professional makeup artist, Stephen Dimmick. What I love about the tip, is not only does it create a matte lipstick finish, but the powder (I use a true colourless powder like RCMA) also 'sets' the lipstick, making it much more long-wearing and much more smudge proof. And, while it is not as resistant as a 'true' matte liquid lipstick, it is also far more comfortable on my lips.

Watching your videos have been best relaxing and resetting for me after work. I work as a nurse, and because the Covid situation etc. it has been really hard to somehow relax after shift. You have very relaxing voice and great advices, thank you for making these! Love from Finland.

We need more people like Robert in the beauty community. Such a down to earth, genuine guy. 😊😊♥️

I mean that split ends turned into a blush brush one is creative (but a little bewildering) however....Ma'am I hope you washed that piece of hair first or else all the hair product you put in your hair is now on your face, rip your skin.

Robert, thank you sooo so much for commenting on the “eye pulling”. I don’t know - for you it was probably just common sense and decency to say that but for me it meant so much more that someone with your platform commented on that. Because my eyeshape is not a trend. I cringe every time someone does e.g. a foxy eye makeup tutorial and pulls on their eye to accentuate the “exotic” look while all Asians were bullied and mocked by that gesture. Well, now I’m even more in love with you if that’s even possible :D

Oh hi there. Don't mind me. I'm just commenting with the hopes that Robert might heart it

thank you for addressing those people who lift their eyes with their fingers. Doing a lifted makeup up look is definitely enough, making the eye stretching is without a doubt unnecessary. Love you, Robert!

You should react to that girl that puts almost all her foundation with her hands on tiktok😬😬
@RobertWelsh3 жыл бұрын
I was tagged so much in that video but I’m like... do I give the time to that person? They are also doing a hashtag encouraging people to do their foundation the same way ... that’s a big no from me! 😝
@sabarashid56343 жыл бұрын
the girl also does it for clout cause the more people that hate on her the more publicity she gets. just leave her be people can do makeup how they want if she wants to do it that way despite people telling her that they dont like it obviosly she doent care lol
@diy_cat98173 жыл бұрын
People used to put their foundation on with their hands. I did when I was in high school. Having brushes for everything is a newer thing. That said, it does sound like this person is trying to be sensational.
@sabarashid56343 жыл бұрын
@@diy_cat9817 this person puts a bottle of foundation on her face then rubs it in like moisturiser. no hate to her but its how she wants to do her makeup then let her do it i guess
