Thank you for keeping us in the know 🙏. This is also the time for native KZbinrs to embrace shorts and set a foundation to prepare for a huge influx, something I have been dragging my feet at.

Yes! Such a good point. Same, I'm not a KZbin Shorts fan but have been trying to post them here and there :)

Well I guess I'm not going to be creating any video content and stick to blogging instead. I don't like any other platform for short-form video. I really don't like Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. Ugh I don't want to watch short-form videos on LinkedIn, I hope they don't come out with that.

I think this is a good point of awareness to maintain flexibility. A rigid business model, i.e. one that relies on 1 platform for all of it's marketing, is generally a short-lived business. If TikTok is just one of the tools that you use for your audience, and you've driven your audience to a CRM that you have more control over, whatever happens to TikTok (or any other platform) should have minor impact on your business. As the saying goes, "don't put all of your eggs in one basket".

Definitely! I would be devastated if KZbin went away, but I also know that nothing lasts forever and feel pretty confident my business wouldn't completely crumble without it.

Absolutely agree. At the same time, I've already been through the ban. Tik Tok is already banned in my city Hong Kong since a number of years now, ever since the protests here, so I've already been through this. Everyone in HK has. Diversify, diversify, diversify. You are correct.

The potential sale of TikTok underscores the importance of diversifying your digital presence as a content creator. 📲 It's wise to cultivate multiple platforms to maintain connection with your audience, regardless of changes in the tech landscape.

Another fantastic episode of the Friday podcast beautiful Latasha. Titkok is planning to challenge the ban in court so depending on what happens in court the ban could be overturned. Love 🥰 the podcast and love 💗 Latasha.

I completely agree with all your suggestions. I've been advising my clients since last year not to put too much effort into TikTok and to start considering alternatives because rumors were circulating about its potential closure in the US and EU. Partly, this advice stems from my own reservations about its alignment with business goals. A multichannel strategy is crucial!

Thank you Latasha, for the clear and measured breakdown of the situation. Creators are wise to cultivate their audience outside of any one app and be prepared to pivot as needed when a platform status changes (rest in peace, Twitter). TikTok is fun but if it goes away, there will always be the next hot platform. The Vine creators survived and so will those of us that are on TikTok. 🎥

Thanks for watching, Cathy! Totally agree. As social media creators, we have to always be prepared to pivot.

My concern: If my clients main reach is to high school students and their parents, will KZbin shorts / FB reels suffice if TikTok is banned? Where will these kids go? 🤷♀️ IK too early to say!
@thelatashajames5 ай бұрын
Great question, I'd recommend testing them all and seeing where you gain traction. From my experience with KZbin Shorts, the audience seems to be quite a bit younger than "traditional" KZbin. Feels like a lot of teenagers, whereas IG & Facebook Reels skews a bit older for me.

Question for you 😊 So TikTok is currently pushing longer form videos as we know and I have created MANY videos on TikTok that are above 1 minute long. The problem is, if I want to post those as YT shorts, I can’t do that because YT only has 60 second shorts right now and, since the content was filmed for TikTok, posting it as a regular YT upload makes me skeptical because they’re filmed vertically. As an SMM, have you seen many vertical style videos on KZbin and do you think we should still post our 2-3 min vertical videos as an actual KZbin video instead of a short even if KZbin prefers longer form content ? I hope that makes sense 😅. Looking forward to hearing back ❤

You don't need shorts just make long ass videos🧐🧐 shorts are lame anyways why not just make long ass videos it's way better

Great point! There are definitely audiences that may not be as into email as others. But never a bad idea to test it out and see how your audience responds!

You made great points, Latasha! At the end of the day...it's night. lol jk, let me be serious. At the end of the day, we can't put all of our eggs in one basket. And we need to invest in things we actually own (i.e. a website, an e-mail list, etc.) or at least that have more longevity (like KZbin). Like you said, for those who haven't ventured outside of TikTok yet, they have a year!

Great insights Latasha! I’m not based in the USA, so wondering how this ban will resonate in Europe
@thelatashajames5 ай бұрын
I'm curious about that, too! I'm sure some European TikTok creators have large U.S. audiences while others do not. Guess it just depends on the subject matter/language they post in. Also curious if the E.U. will follow the United States' lead at all in their legislation...

Love your content & fantastic recommendations tbh 🔥 I worked at TikTok in 2021 & from my POV .. this is 100p a prime example of Corporate Greed & Corruption from the Boomer Brands being selfish & killing the vibes / opportunities for SMBs & the youth SMH

go read a political book. tiktok is not good for any country's security. there's countless of propaganda and disinformation on that app. tiktok gives you doses of dopamine, that's probably why you love it so much.

Hi Latasha, sorry for asking this but even of I'm posting good and branded content with consistency my followers are stuck at 328 and never goes up. Could you please tell me what I'm doing wrong? If that doesn't change I think I'll throw Instagram as I've done with tiktok.. Not even one single follower in months

Everyone has one year to offload their audience from TikTok to a more permanent communication environment like email newsletters or something similarly stable. The thing is, even if someone new decides to take possession of TikTok, it's already got a target on it's back. If anything, a new player will decide to come into the industry and replace TikTok just like how things like Vine got replaced. Having your social media platform involved in legal issues isn't anything new, but for the legal issue to be regarding getting BANNED?! I don't know about you, but I think that puts an eternal black mark on the platform regardless of its popularity or impact on the younger generation. The ONLY reason I would support TikTok staying around is for the business owners who make their profit from it, but other than that... I say just let it get banned and die for good. No one should have their business completely reliant on just one platform anyway. Building a sand castle on top of another sand castle is not a sound business strategy.

I looked up some of the biggest TikTokers in the past two months none of them I repeat none of them don’t have a Instagram or the Instagram is nonexistent. They’re only popular on TikTok so when TikTok goes away, they will be a nobody again. When you try to tell them that they should start promoting their other socials so they can try to save their fan. They say TikTok not going anywhere. 😂 and this shit is so funny. Because they actually think they’re all right you don’t control TikTok. It will not be here forever. It was meant for you to use it as a tool to boost yourself and move onto the next and 99% of them are not doing that the biggest ones they did that already in 2022 and 2021 the ones that you seen on TV I’ve already moved onto KZbin and Twitch I have millions of Instagram followers and Twitter followers but the medium size ones, but the hundred K 75K or a little bit more they are going to fail because they don’t like to listen
