Exactly! Old money people first of all know where to spend and where to cut. Plus, they know it's better to be friendly with everyone, so potentially make it awkward for anyone to steal or rob them... I mean, you don't want to trouble nice people. And there's a saying: treat a cleaner like the boss, that's the sign of good upbringing (and helps motivate people do their best 😉). There's soooo much benefit in being nice, and people who grew up rich are usually not so bitter and aggressive towards others, especially females, they thought the world was wonderful all through their childhood.

I'm very nice & chatty with the staff at my local grocery store. One day I was sick & quickly popped into the store I saw the door was half closed. Thought nothing of it & push it open, went in got my cart. When I was down the 3rd aisle I notice the lights were dimmed & I saw no other shoppers. I looked for a staff member & asked her are you closed?" She said yes. I was so embarrassed I left the shopping & went to the exit. I asked the security why he just let me go in & he said he though I really needed something. The manager told me he still has some paperwork & cashing up to do so I have 40 min to finish & pay. I profusely apologized to the cashier but she reminded me that I once scolded another shopper for being rude to her so she does not mind at all. Got all my shopping & bags carried to my car & I walked in 5 min after closing. Also ended up dating the manager. Be nice 😂l

I can confirm. I used to work in a window department, hard and soft treatments, and I never met nicer people than 'old' money. Had an incident with a woman who /threw a book at me/ after screaming SHE was rich and I NEEDED to wait on her, not the old lady I was working with for her blinds. The old lady stood up, gave her /credentials/ as one of THE most influential families in my area, and was friends with the MAJOR philanthrapist that helped buoy the museums, and local theater scene, and has hospitals named after her... and I never saw someone shrink so badly as when this little old woman looked her up and down and said in the most dismissive voice I have /ever/ heard: 'I suppose the phrase is true, that money can't buy class. Run along, little girl. The nice worker is busy with more important people.' For the record, she ordered $40K of custom blinds and returned for custom curtains, and sometimes just for a coffee break with me. She was the most wonderful customer I have /ever/ waited on and I miss her every day.

When I found out I was pregnant unexpectedly, I was nervous to tell my husband because I wasn’t sure how he would respond. He was so comforting and sweet and to see him trying to hold back his excitement as he attempted to make sure I was ok. Seeing him being excited and happy gave me such relief. It was nice to have that kind of support in such a vulnerable moment.

When I was 22 ,unmarried, and found out I was pregnant with my first, I was terrified to tell my bf . When I finally did, I finished with I'm sorry (having come from a prior abusive relationship). He very sweetly said "well it took 2 of us didn't it?! It's going to be ok." 24 years later he is now my ex husband, we are still family and my 2nd child (not by him) calls him Uncle out of respect. My husband and him get along well and he actually lived with my parents for 5 years. Some men are total assholes, some men even if not ultimately "the one" are great. I hope that girl finds her one!

The bast part was when she complained about it taking to long "Google said it should have taken 15 minutes". Well Google estimates based on the shortest path, and (usually) optimal traffic for the time you checked google. She literally asked for the longer route, then complained when he was stuck in traffic at a light, as if the driver was God and could magically part traffic (like Jim Carrey in Bruce Almighty).

Honestly Bria, the girl from the credit card story needs to talk to the friend that brought the new person along so they can talk to them about the money. The dude that stitched her tik tok was wild. The mental gymnastics this man went through to validate taking advantage of someone trying to be nice, is just mind blowing. Again, she just needs to talk to the friend that brought that person and see if they can sort something out, if not, write it off and move on, the next time a friend brings someone new out to eat make sure the ground rules are set more firmly. Also $240 bucks, that's hefty, I can't even begin to think of the last time I spent more than $50 on a meal for myself.

Yeah that's ridiculous. I had a friend go behind my back and pay for an expensive car repair for me; called the mechanic with her payment information before I picked up my vehicle. I would have gotten cash back and had a month to pay off that balance. But instead I had to immediately move money around and pay her back. She didn't want me to pay her back, she wanted it to be a gift, which was very sweet, but I wished she would have asked and I would have thanked her and declined. Even still, I just profusely thanked her for her generosity even though it was slightly inconvenient for me. But in this girl's, you're all at the dinner table. You have all the power in the world to say, I would like to pay for my own if you had any of the reasons the man complaining suggested. And if it really was just a "I would have put it on a credit card and paid it off slowly," then she could offer to pay this girl in $50 installments instead of just not paying her. Crazy crazy.

The issue i have with the acquaintance not paying 240, it's not like the girl spent $30 to $50 on her meal. She racked up a charge of $240 by herself. Thats ridiculous. The tracking: My first thought on seeing this update was cool. It can really help especially if there are any safety concerns with children. If a person’s first thought is, “OMG my partner can now see everything!” that is not because of the app updates. As you rightfully said, only those bothered are those who have something to hide - *OR* - have an SO who micromanages. Either way it means there is an issue in the relationship that needs to be addressed, not because the update is a problem.

@allystriya - heh.sure is nice to be trusted. In my experience, the one who doesn’t trust you is likely to be untrustworthy herself/himself. I understand those who’ve been deceived & cheated on would probably not trust anyone again, but don’t grill & flat out accuse your next SO of being unfaithful / deceptive unless you-yourself have seen it w/your own eyes. I don’t care who she is- any SO who is so suspicious that she has to micro manage & track my location & monitor my phone activity- we are just done & overwith. If that’s the case, I could never earn her trust. She’d always be suspicious. On the flip side- if I’m so uptight & worried about about where she is & who she’s talking to & what she’s doing day in & day out- then we shouldn’t be together. Life’s way too short to waste my time, strength & energy on that crap.

Usually when you go out with people everyone agrees on how the bill will be paid before you actually pay the bill. If the girl wanted to she could have said no thanks I’ll pay my own tab simple as that. But seeing as someone offered to pay the bill and they could just reimburse her later, she saw the opportunity to get her billed payed and not have to pay it back seeing as they weren’t that close and she probably wouldn’t have to face her in person. That’s super scummy. That guy was doing some mental caret wheels to justify her basically scamming her out of $240

Am I the only one who thinks the first lady in the taxi wasn't (that) rude before the driver became snappy? Yes, the taxi drivers remarks & Charlotte commenting kind of added fuel to negative emotions towards the lady, but watching the interaction again, and then again and again, I feel like there's not enough context avaliable to make a decision on who's the a-hole. 1) I couldn't locate her waving to the driver in this video at any point. So the driver is conditioning us by adding this comment without proof. Even if she did, this would have been related to the next point. Not disrespectful/only assumably disrespectful. 2) She asked, IF he could drive up. Yes, she forgot the please (please count 1). This was not an order. There could have easily been a fire hydrant blocking fully opening the door, an obstacle, a puddle, puke, trash, dog poop, etc next to the car, that the driver could have missed. Surely, that's just me making an assumption, but the driver can also only make an assumption that she wanted him to drive up just because, for no reason. He is also using exaggerated language, expressing that it was an -extremely- unnecessary request, that's again, conditioning us to side with him and not her. Not disrespectful/arguably disrespectful for not saying please. 3) She suggested for THEM to take the 1st Avenue. She forgot the please (please count 2). She didn't order for HIM to take the 1st Avenue. She could easily have an experience of this being a faster route usually or just enjoying this route for any reason, she is the client, she is paying for the driving, she can choose the route. Not disrespectful/arguably disrespectful for not saying please. 4) Repeating this in a calm manner, we could argue, that she forgot the please again or we could argue that she simply just repeated what she said. Not disrespectful. 5) Ordering him to turn left, she forgot the please. (orders count 1, please count 3) This could be counted as a part of the previous suggestion, but I'll count it separately just for the added drama points. Disrespectful. 6) Suggesting for them to turn off the radio in a unappealing manner, forgot the please (please count 4). She obviously understood her straightforward manner and explained that she's on a call. Could have she phrased this differently? Yes. I won't make an excuse for her, although obvious. Somewhat disrespectful/arguably disrespectful for not saying please. 7) Smacking her lips, annoyed. Disrespectful IF aimed towards the driver. This could have easily been annoyance with the traffic in general. We can't make any correct assumptions, so he can't also make an assumption that it was aimed towards him. Not disrespectful/only assumably disrespectful. 8) She asks if THEY can try to hurry, adds a please. A valid question. By this time she could have easily already realised her own fault for choosing this route and wishes to express that she's in a hurry. She is not complaining and she is not asking the driver to break any laws. There's a difference between relaxed and rushing driving. So this point is somewhat disrespectful for not considering that she was the one to choose this route. It's only disrespectful assumably, if she intended for the driver to break laws and wasn't considering the legal issues this might bring the driver, but we can't make this assumption based on this interaction. Now, this is when the driver becomes snappy. He could have easily just said "no, sadly, we can not" or just confirm that he is doing his best. Adding commentary on the screen that her gesture was disrespectful and that he is looking for a polite way to answer, is again conditioning. He's saying "but thank you", but for what? Could this be counted as a rhetorical expression or just matching her energy? In any way he himself is (also) adding fuel to this dispute. Not disrespectful/only assumably disrespectful. Beyond this point the driver is noticeably snappy while the lady is seemingly frustrated and snappy, so I'm not going to analyse the interaction beyond this point but I'd like to point out that the driver continues with exaggerated commentary on screen and also exaggerated language; e.g. in this video she has only given order to him, while he says that she has given 5 orders to him. Even if you'd count the driving up, taking 1st Ave, turning off music and the hurrying, that's still less than what he has perceived, so it is fair to conclude that he is exaggerating.

We have a group of widows from a local church that meet at our restaurant once a month. They gave my coworker a very hard time yesterday. It just so happened to be the 1 year anniversary since her own husband passed away. They had her in tears. SOOO- I waited as they gathered their belongings and stepped in to our private dining area where they were. I then address these ladies and THANK them for taking such GOOD care of my girl, ESPECIALLY being that they could relate to her circumstances! One lady asked me if she heard me correctly. I said yes ma'am it has been exactly one year to the date her husband unexpectedly died under tragic circumstances, and thanked them again for their "kindness". The looks on their faces was absolutely deserved! ( Ashamed for not considering there are others dealing with struggles we know not of.) Lets just say there were MANY apologies, they gave her a better tip AND brought her a gift back later. I’ll be honest, when you think about how easy it is for someone to disappear these days, I don’t mind the tracking part for safety, not controlling. A few days ago, my husband locked himself out of the house, and he was screwed. He was just walking our friend to his car, so left wallet, keys, phone on his desk. He was knocking on the door for hours, but I was asleep, and you can’t hear knocking from the top floor. He was stuck out in the streets for 8 HOURS! No ID, no phone, no money! He eventually walked a few miles to my mom’s house, but worried about the police picking him up for vagrancy. If anything had happened to him that night, I would have had 0 clues where he went, what happened, etc. When my mom finally called me to ask me where my husband was, I just KNEW he was downstairs. I could hear her shaking her head as she passed him the phone. I almost died 😱

I will never own an Iphone. I'd like to say it's just because they are too intrusive into one's personal life, but truth is, I can't afford one. I have the cheapest Android I could find and it's 4 years old. I don't have a partner, or friends, or family that cares where I am, but I leave my phone's tracking on just in case I encounter some misadventure, or my car goes over the side of the mountain I live on while driving the dangerous, narrow, twisty road between home and the nearest town below us. Twice I've witnessed cars plunging over a cliff and crashing 100 ft+ to the valley below with fatal results, so it's a legit fear. That tracking on my phone might be the only way I'd be found. The only annoying thing is that every time I drive to town, Google asks me to write reviews of every place I've been. They always want me to write about my experience hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, because my off-grid home is a stone's throw away from the famous trail that is known to be one of the most dangerous places to hike in the US. Lots of hikers go missing, and eventually some remains are found but not always. Google, you really don't want me to write about my experiences with this trail! There's a search and rescue group in my community who have heart-breaking stories about the hikers they find too late, and I'm always afraid I'm going to accidentally find human remains out here. If I wrote about it, I'd suggest that hikers find a way to skip this part of Mt. San Jacinto if they value their lives!

Trust me, WE ARE FREAKING EMBARRASSED! It's mortifying, but there's this downward spiral where things get messy because you're depressed and can't deal with it, then you feel worse because it's messy, so it's MORE overwhelming. So my fat a$$ started dribbling that damn 🏀 FOR HOURS straight up until 9:59pm bc I'm petty! & She wouldn't come yell at me only my kids when I wasn't there. As for telling your SO you're pregnant, that girl definitely had the wrong one. One girl from my town was married to a guy for 5 years until about 3 years ago. During that time, she was pregnant three times - two ectopics, and a preemie. Each time she told her husband, he'd go blank and walk away - usually ending up playing video games or something. Her preemie was in the midst of some complications which lead to a hysterectomy - and shortly after she got home from the hospital, she filed for divorce. It turned out the guy had been pretty abusive and was escalating, and she was tired of covering for him. 3 years on, she's got a cute little boy that his dad and fraternal grandma apparently don't officially recognize - On the bright side, she's engaged to a good guy that loves her and her son a lot! She apparently still has ovaries, so they're looking into surrogacy!

The funny thing is that history proves you can "buy breeding". The dollar princesses certainly did. In turn, they helped to save the genetics of the British aristocracy. In any case, if there were any real difference between the "Upper Crust" and the average person, then scammers would never be successful unless they came from precisely the same genetic and cultural background. We have seen examples that this is not the case. The only difference between those with and those without is money and pretentions to exclusivity.

@@kaitlinrose7202Yeah, old money in New England is… interesting. I grew up riding horses and old money girls definitely made some astonishing jokes about how their horse costs more than someone’s house, etc. I would say they are still nicer to regular people’s faces than new money people are, though. They still hate you behind your back.
@TheNicolevertone
@TheNicolevertone Жыл бұрын
@jeniphirtaylor-mcintire81 It's both. The dollar princesses were "new money" in New York and not accepted by society. They took their wealth to Britian, where it bought acceptance and titles (through marriage) from the aristocracy who had nobility but crumbling estates. This, in turn, brought grudging acceptance from those in New York. It's all a part of history during the "Gilded Age"--a term coined by Mark Twain in writing on the ridiculousness and hypocrisy of his own era.

The older lady who ran the kitchen and then her hubby who was in charge of house upkeep/car upkeep etc.. I thought they were family. Like an aunt and uncle or even young grandparents. Nope just the couple who work for us. They were the nicest people I'd ever met. I let him know I was taking a test and I kid you not he told me he vomited and said "I can't deal with this!" and I never heard from him again. There must've been around 8 of us, and I was under the impression we were doing separate checks or pool money to pay (we were in college, so we had money, but not that much). We decided to order family-style and they dug in. I had a piece of meat, a little rice, and like 4 pieces of nachos. yeah. When the bill came, everyone suddenly became busy with their phones, and no one was making eye contact. So this girl and I split the bill. I'm not worried about the cameras in Ubers; I think it protects both passengers and drivers. But that whole Apple "I see you" thing? Yeah, not so much. I'm old school. Been happily married for over 40 years. It's not about trying to cheat. It's about Big Brother, not my partner. I have certain expectations for privacy, and they are fast disappearing with technological 'improvements' I have to manually disable. Not a fan.

Thank you @poetryqn this is absolutely what I got out of it! The surveillance thing is my biggest issue with it, and I would never call myself old school anyway

Can confirm that people who actually want to pay you back, will figure out a way to pay you back. Even in installments. People who don’t want to pay you back either make excuses or wait long enough and hope you forgot.

A friend should ALWAYS pay you back for a dinner coverage. Right away. The idea that she somehow deserves to eat the bill is insane. Totally with Charlotte that there are way too many people telling on themselves if they think otherwise!

@@wendyiwanitzki2461I guess the friend who invited the person should pay in the event that the person doesn't pay, but the person accepted coming to a dinner, so they should be able to cover themselves.

I can't understand the mindset of the credit card points man. Is he just a moocher, a con man, does he have some kinda -ism? His friendship credit score is low.

20:28 if you go to purchase alcohol, do not bring the person under 21 in the store with you. It doesn't matter if you're dating the only way they can be with you is if they are your child.

In my experience, the people who come from money are the absolute best to work with. People who are first generation wealthy are much harder to deal with- especially if they got their money from something like sports etc

Nice to see people not hating on those who inherit wealth. Not their fault any more than people being born in poverty is their fault.

I like the cut of that driver's jib. I haven't driven myself anywhere in like 2 years because I work and go to school from home now, so when my car died I said f' it and never got it fixed. I ask almost nothing of my Uber and Lyft drivers.
